Great interview that, who is the interviewer, really enjoyed their considered approach, quite refreshing change from the bombast and bootlicking these days.

Joshua trainer bashing AGAIN

“When you’re with a fighter everything is going well then at the end something goes wrong and the first one to blame is the trainer.”

“The way it was going, the people involved, things they were doing to prepare for a fight, things were going on in training camp I would just sit and laugh by myself.

I told the management team can you just please fly me home I’m not going to be part of this, they convinced me to stay, change things around, which I did – I changed things around and we ended up doing good.

But one week into camp I was ready to leave camp so if that was the case [that they weren’t happy with me] they should have sent me home when I wanted to go.”

Comment : Is this guy ever going to take responsibility for his failures? I doubt it.

I'm not sure - it doesn't say his name but I agree, he is very good: measured and listens to the answers. And Dom gives real meat on the bone with his considered responses.

It is about Grarcia, yes. But these comments were made by Joshua in the past few days.

He just cannot move on.

the comments you posted are from robert garcia, not joshua. what are aj's new comments blaming his trainer - did he go full on wilder?

or did you mistake garcia's words for aj's ?

Yes, looks like it :TU:

There is so much too and fro between Joshua and his trainers it is hard to keep track of who said what.

There' appears to be a bit of a staring competition going on between Wilder and Joshua's camps at the moment and who knows what the Saudis themselves are up to?

Hearn says he has met with the Saudis a number of times, including twice over in Saudi Arabia, and is now putting a 2 to 3 week timeframe on wrapping the Wilder fight up. Otherwise he will 'look at a November/December fight for Joshua'.

Wilder seems to be wanting a fight in October but Hearn says that 'concerns him' and he would rather see Wilder fight in September.

Meanwhile, despite all this talking, there is still no mention of anyone ever having received anything in writing.

Wouldn't it make sense to wait until after Wilder has his October bout before an offer in writing was made? Even if he takes on a 99.9% guaranteed win against someone like Washington, there's still that slim possibility that something happens ie a cut, a glass chin etc that would scupper any plans and therefore devalue the Joshua v Wilder bout.

Hearn really seems to be back tracking from the fight judging by the change in language, something is amiss.

Based on what?

Apparently they’ve been having meetings with the saudi guys this week to sort out the deal.

The only thing that may delay it is whether Wilder fights first and I just can’t see that happening as the money he’d want would probably necessitate PPV and based on how his fight with Helenius did (something like 70k buys), I just can’t see it.

He’s also not massive at the gate. Taylor/Serrano drew a bigger gate than his fight last fight (around $1.5m).

Timeframes and deadlines?
The Knitting Circle would have you believe that being subject to timeframes and deadlines was a perfectly good reason to duck a fight.
