Say it to his face badman
Talk of fighting fringe world level opponents then fights the English champ. After turning down a European title shot

Badman. Are u 12 :witzend:
The Euro Shot would have been against Dos Santos who cried like a new born baby on Buatsi’ shoulder after he switched his lights off. Yarde would annihilate him - at least Summers has a good chin and never been stopped.

BrickTop needs to be held to his word that the next opponent will be better - Smith Jnr would be a great fight for him to put on in London.
Do you know what's better than "Yarde would annihilate" Dos Santos? Yarde "annihilating" Dos Santos, but he decided not to fight him.

Yep, I've thought the very same. I see his eye closing early, him given too much leeway by the ref and getting kayoed when it's closed.
I think you both might be right. I hope Joyce is able to tighten his defence up and apply educated pressure on Zang and stop him in the second half of the fight, but think that Zang just might be all wrong for him and will target his eye.

Joyce is nearly forty. If he hasn't learned how to move his head or keep a high guard by now he won't have learned how to in the past few months.

He boxed fine against Dubois, who's better than Zhang. The Zhang fight wasn't Joyce anywhere near his best. He's more than capable of beating Zhang. Anyone who disagrees doesn't know sh*t about boxing.

People really dont want to give Zhang any credit.

Joyce was buzzed and hurt in the second and that was before the eye was closed. He has never looked so vulnerable. His excellent chin in a lot of ways is his defense, but if age is catching up with him and it has to be mentioned. Then it could be another long night for him.

I still see it as a 50/50 fight and wouldn't be surprised if Joyce turns the tables this time, but I do think he peaked with the Parker fight.

Dubois who was leathered around the ring by Kevin lerena and had to be talked out of quitting? He's better than Zhang? On what planet exactly? Usyk is not a KO guy but I have no doubt he will KO Dubois. The division is just in such a bad state that Dubois is even a contender.

Joe is going to get mullered again. You can't make a career out of using the Homer Simpson tactics like he has and expect to get away with it. This isn't the amateurs.

Because of a freak injury and STILL he KO'd Lerena.

Your opinion on what will happen in a completely different fight has nothing to do with the rematch between Zhang & Joyce.

That's merely your opinion but you can't provide an analysis, which proves you have no idea what you're talking about. Why are you stating it as a fact? Go put all the money you have on Zhang winning by stoppage again, if you're so confident. Of course you won't, though. Because you know you're full of sh*t.

I already covered this. All Joyce has to do is employ some kind of boxing strategy in the first half of the fight, chip away at Zhang and he'll break him down to either a late stoppage win or a clear decision victory. Zhang is not good AND he has stamina issues, whereas Joyce only gets stronger as the fight goes on. Joyce clearly didn't respect Zhang and expected an easy victory. Joyce at his best has the clear advantage over Zhang.

If you think Joyce cannot possibly win this fight, you really know nothing about boxing.

I can see a repeat in this one. Joe will start better than last time, but will fall back into the same style he used last time. I can see it being stopped before the end of the tenth, possibly by Joyce's corner.

This fight is like a faintly sad David Lynch version of Frazier v Foreman. The indomitable steam train pressure fighter, except because it's 2023 the one we get is weird, massive and slow, meeting his comeuppance against the one guy big and powerful and tough enough to neutralise him. Except for us, this guy is like the oldest version of Old Foreman without ever having been Young Foreman

Joe Joyce: "Loss To Zhang Was a Wake Up Call To Get Things Right"

“I’m feeling good. I’m focused, a bit heavier and good to go,” Joyce told Carl Frampton. “If I’d won the fight like that then no mistakes I’d made in the first camp would have been corrected. Going forward it’s given me a wake up call to get things right.’

“I’ve got everything right. I’ve been a lot more disciplined and focused and switched on,” he said. “Maybe I took my eye off the ball a little bit in the first fight and I’m just making sure I’ve ticked all the boxes and dotted all the i’s. It’s a bit more practice with the southpaw stance in terms of sparring and technique and tactics but also getting my body bigger and stronger and more ready for the job of fighting Zhang. Zhang surprised me with his speedy accuracy and power and I got the tactics wrong on the night. There were a lot of things to nitpick that have been handled in this camp.”

I really hope Joyce wins; he seems like a great guy.

But, having seen a couple of interviews with him this week, his eye looks bashed up and am concerned that it will go again, like Eubank snr in his rematch with Carl Thompson.

Massively hope I am wrong though.

Whilst Joyce winning wouldn't be a big surprise - I just don't expect him too.

Joyce came in very trimmed which suggested he'd trained diligently, that he had his eye on the ball and was very much focussed .. if he came in fat then the excuse he'd lost focus may have sounded more valid.

Facts were that Zhang was able to nullify Joyce's jab from the outset, and land his back hand quite easily.
Joyce looked physically smaller and underpowered against Zhang hence his belief that being heavier will help .. when in fact it may make Slo-Joe even slower.

Size/weight will not be the deciding factor for Joyce - landing his jab and avoiding the southpaw backhand are the things Joyce needs to change for next time.
