Strange card. The first 3 fights weren’t particularly great. The Pattinson/Walker fight was great though. I don’t really get why it was made though. They were going to announce Pattinson/Ritson for Newcastle straight after the fight but obviously that’s now not happening. Should have just gone straight into a Ritson fight which would have probably been good money.

Big credit to Walker though. Fought with fire and did great. I also wonder about Graeme Rutherford fighters. Obviously they’re all different but, on the whole, they’re not particularly adept at avoiding punches and they don’t tend to be set to go for big punches either. It’s clearly worked for them as amateurs but sometimes I think it’s worth going to established pro trainers. Kind of like Pat and Luke McCormack have done with Davison.

Still I thought Rutherford made the right call in stopping the fight.

Yafai did what he should have done and showed the difference in levels. Hopefully the can get him out fairly quickly and then again on Edwards card.

Surprising amount of fans in there. Some of the undercard lads must have shifted several hundred each.

A character is that Rutherford guy , was shocked at his corner work in the amateurs, very vocal with his boxers during the intervals but it definitely works & he producers good boxers .

Yeah. It’s phenomenal what he’s done at Birtley.

I just wonder whether he’ll be able to take the success he’s had with amateurs to the pros. Hope I’m wrong though.

Keep seeing everyone slate the main event as a mismatch, before and after, in all fairness it did land up being a mismatch but Frank is a former British and Commonwealth champ, was still British champ last year (I think) so not a faded ex titlist, I know Yafai is an Olympic Gold medalist but it was his 5th fight, one of which was a SD, he's still got a long way to go, aren't amateur and pro entirely different sports they say??

Ok as I say it did wind up being a 1st round blowout but not the worst match I've seen going in

Just watching it again, think that towels a bit early, Frank feeling the pressure but still had his wits about him, Yafai missing half of his shots, ref was hovering anyway but might've been controversial if it wasn't a towel

Yeah strange, towel's are generally a sign of a sustained beating, not a guy buzzed in r1. Weird.

Or the corner is worried that the ref will be too brave

I think the towel came in because he was completely out of his depth.

Fair play Yafai, demo job. Great tactics.

I wanna know how Tommy feels about the towel. It was only going one way I suppose
