Luke Fury Is The Third Best Heavyweight In The World......
Re: Luke Fury Is The Third Best Heavyweight In The World......
Why do some people get such a thrill out of calling him Luke
like it’s some kind of big secret we dont know that they are exposing

Fq knows. I don’t like Tyson Fury but I don’t call him Luke in some weird attempt to prove something.
I’ve asked the OP this on a thread previously but when it became clear he’s either a child or an idiot I just put him on ignore.

I do love a good compliment.

Is it the same guy that always referred to AJ as 'The Nigerian'?leejonesjnr wrote: ↑20 Aug 2023, 12:18

I don’t know, several fighters changed their name,
no big deal. Saying that I’m sure I can recall seeing his birth certificate being posted by his wife and it showed Luke as his middle name. Maybe I’m misremembering that though.

Pretty sure John Fury showed around a birth certificate showing Tyson as his first name and Luke as middle name. Unfortunately it was soon discovered to be a fake birth certificate .. maybe Paris borrowed it off John afterwards.Controversial wrote: ↑20 Aug 2023, 12:48I don’t know, several fighters changed their name,

I don’t know why people are so obsessed. He’s been known as Tyson Fury for years and many use their second name….. like George ‘Gideon’ Osborne
I mean sugar Ray Robinson is never called Walker Smith Jr. by fans is he? And it’s Muhammad Ali not Cassius Clay…..

It's really not an uncommon thing at all in Boxing history for a guy's Ring Name, and his actual name to be different.
Arnold Cream - Jersey Joe Walcott
Walker Smith Jr. - Sugar Ray Robinson
Rocco Barbella - Rocky Graziano
Reasons for this vary, but it's really not that uncommon. Maybe more uncommon these days than it was in years past, but not uncommon in the history of the sport as a whole.

Is inactivity counted in the alphabet rankings ?

Jersey Joe took the name of his idol, but there are no reports he ever tried to make out it was his birth name.gilgamesh wrote: ↑20 Aug 2023, 14:57 It's really not an uncommon thing at all in Boxing history for a guy's Ring Name, and his actual name to be different.

Ali very publicly changed his name from Clay.
Ray Robinson took on Ray Robinson by chance and kept it once he became a ticket seller ... and Barbella took Graziano to stay out of prison.
I guess the difference with Tyson Fury is that he and those around him have constantly lied about his real name; if he hadn`t, then as the other name changes as mentioned above, it wouldn`t have been any story at all.

It is for the ring. Not sure on Boxrec but I think it is.funso banjo baby wrote: ↑20 Aug 2023, 15:09maverick23 wrote: ↑20 Aug 2023, 09:31 If the Ngannou fight is an exhibition I.E. doesn’t count on the records, then Fury could well be out of the rankings by the end of the year all together due to being inactive and not having a pro boxing fight confirmed.

The sanctioning bodies do what they like. The WBC, rightly, took Benn out of their rankings as he’d been inactive 12 months and doesn’t have anything lined up. Yet Jermall Charlo hasn’t fought and defended his middleweight belt in 26 months and hasn’t been stripped. Will be the same for Fury.

I asked someone I know who is into compiling family trees and they looked at the birth register, his first name really is Tyson apparently.tonyevs wrote: ↑20 Aug 2023, 13:46Pretty sure John Fury showed around a birth certificate showing Tyson as his first name and Luke as middle name. I only call him Luke for a bit of daft, but some people on here take it a tiny bit too serious.Controversial wrote: ↑21 Aug 2023, 04:28I asked someone I know who is into compiling family trees and they looked at the birth register, his first name really is Tyson apparently.tonyevs wrote: ↑20 Aug 2023, 13:46Pretty sure John Fury showed around a birth certificate showing Tyson as his first name and Luke as middle name. He's fourth now. That says a lot about who he's been fighting.

Will he even be in the top 10 after another faded performance?
Re: Luke Fury Is The Third Best Heavyweight In The World......
If this keeps going, he's gonna end up rated lower than the real lineal champion.polecateddy wrote: ↑06 Jan 2024, 11:57 Will he even be in the top 10 after another faded performance?
