Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois | TNT Sports PPV - 26 August 2023
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois | TNT Sports PPV - 26 August 2023
Usyk heavy favourite and rightly so. He has super high ring IQ, amazing movement, great accuracy and can pace a 12 rounder to perfection. He lacks one punch power but can make up for that in accuracy and work rate. Will be giving away about 8kg in weight I imagine and is getting on a bit in age, he can be hurt if caught but very hard to catch him with headshots. When Joshua targeted the body mid fight he had good success and Dubois can work the body well.
Dubois brings power and great output (for a heavyweight), decent movement but is fairly predicable and has a low ring IQ relative to Usyk.
Agree that he needs to jump on Usyk from the get go, using his good jab and targeting the body, as if it goes to the second half it will get harder and harder for DDD as Usyk always finishes so strong. He was seconds away from stopping Joshua.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois | TNT Sports PPV - 26 August 2023
I like Dubois, he's just a quiet kinda guy who obviously doesn't like to get involved with the usual bluster and shite. The bad blood between Joyce and him just felt so awkward and false that it was funny in a way (apart from the blind stuff, or whatever it was that was said). He just gets in there and fights.
Usually, i'd be rooting for the Brit, but, because of all the shite that Fury pulled to get out of the Usyk fight, I'm hoping for an Usyk win just to force Fury into a corner to make that fight happen. It's a bit of a shame Dubois is kinda getting the fallout from that drama. Although, I'm a fan of Usyk's as well, given the way he conducts himself and his skills.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois | TNT Sports PPV - 26 August 2023
I have to say, Dubois showed - as Jim Watt liked to say "A bit of Devil in his work" in his last outing, to overcome adversity.
He's going to have to be aggressive from the off against Usyk to win, and try and get close enough to bang him up.
He's got an uphill task, as it's likely Usyk has the answer for anything that he does, but he can only try. Usyk has shown a good chin, an excellent workrate and stamina, and the smarts to counter whatever has come at him thus far - but Dubois is younger, stronger and bigger, so he's in with a shout, but he has to be prepared to walk through shots.
I suspect though, that if he does, the eye injury is likely to be a factor again, and I can see this ending by TKO late doors.

Usyk is only 1/10. I've got £4,000 ready for this. Free money.

If they fight a hundred times, I'd have DDD winning one. The odds are ten times better than that. Plus, the only good bet is a winning bet. £400 of free money coming my way. I only bet a few times per year, but when I do, I almost always win.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑22 Aug 2023, 17:06Rather you than me, he could get stopped on a cut, or walk into a shot, anything could happen, it's heavyweight boxing, I'd not fancy those odds at all. 4k to win 400 - no chance.

I understand the principle, not quite sure I'd agree with 1 in 100, as good as Usyk is, not sure in heavyweight boxing, between top flight operators (dubois is obviously a coupleof levels below, but it still in the top 10% of all heavyweights out there), there's ever a 1% chance of winning.jwfg wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 04:33If they fight a hundred times, I'd have DDD winning one. What % chance would you give DDD? I'm factoring in the three knock downs by Kevin Lerena and beating by JJ,jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 04:57I understand the principle, not quite sure I'd agree with 1 in 100, as good as Usyk is, not sure in heavyweight boxing, between top flight operators (dubois is obviously a coupleof levels below, but it still in the top 10% of all heavyweights out there), there's ever a 1% chance of winning.jwfg wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 04:33If they fight a hundred times, I'd have DDD winning one. £4000 to win £400 isn't a bet for me. However it's not bad really. As Usyk will win this fight.
However, id rather risk £150 on Usyk points @ 14/5 to win £420. Usyk hasn't stopped any decent heavyweight. It's been what 3 years since he last stopped anyone?
Dubois took plenty off JJ. His face was a total mess but he still got to round 10. He'll be a better fighter for it.
Usyk points is the bet I'll be doing. Losing 4k would have an impact on my life, but £150 wouldn't! However each individual should only bet what you can afford to lose.

I have a feeling the fight will be stopped by either the ref, the doctor or the towel. I can see Usyk finding a home for a lot of his shots early in the fight and the accumulation will be the end of DDD.Exoddus wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 05:37 £4000 to win £400 isn't a bet for me. I can definitely afford to lose the £4,000, but I won't be at all happy with myself if I do.

I feel the same, cuts, swelling, or just the ref stepping in to save Dubois from furhter punishment.jwfg wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 06:00I have a feeling the fight will be stopped by either the ref, the doctor or the towel. Dubois is far less skilfull than AJ, who for all his flaws, can box pretty well - and is technically sound, if a bit stiff.
Dubois is at his best when he fights like a dog with horseradish up it's arse, and that means he takes a lot of shots. I think he will be eating the jab all night and straight shots from Usyk, and will get busted up.

You're a real hero, bragging about being able to blow thousands on a losing bet. How do you sit down without an arse? I know, you're probably never off your feet are you, you busy little worker bee.jwfg wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 06:28I was replying to a message about only betting if you could afford it. If me working 60+ hours per week is something that offends you, then that's your problem.

That's a rather large chip on your shoulder. I trained for over eight years to get to where I'm at and there's been many a mountain to climb, but I got there. I wasn't in any way bragging about money, merely discussing betting on this thread, Personally, I don't judge people based on how much they earn or bet. If you do, that's your business.Teddy's Toupee wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 06:46You're a real hero, bragging about being able to blow thousands on a losing bet. How do you sit down without an arse? I didn't say that. I've got the money in a pot I'm saving for a dream holiday, if I lose the bet, you can p1ss your pants at me.Teddy's Toupee wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 07:07"I can afford to throw away four grand on a losing bet, I'm not bragging or anything."jwfg wrote: ↑23 Aug 2023, 07:02That's a rather large chip on your shoulder. Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois | TNT Sports PPV - 26 August 2023
It’s just a silly risk as at any point Usyk can just get old, and cruiserweights moving up have a long history of durability issues cropping up eventually. Dubios gets a lot of stick and looked poor in his last fight, but is still a little bit of an unknown quantity in terms of how much he may still improve. I’d think Usyk will win by stoppage in around 10, with Dubois on his feet but basically just taking punishment. But who knows?

I can hardly believe it..Dubois can actually talk! All this time he’s barely spoken a word, he’s actually got a nice personality. Wish him well on Saturday
