Robert Helenius adverse VADA finding
Just been posted by Matchroom that a random VADA drug test before the AJ fight has come back as showing adverse findings which was reported after the fight.

Doesn’t really matter now.. he didn’t do shit..
He probably go fight in Europe again.

Re: Robert Helenius adverse VADA finding
Unbelievable. Wouldn't surprise me if boxing is at cycling levels for PED's.
Re: Robert Helenius adverse VADA finding
With hindsight, how annoying is it that we had to watch AJ Vs a PED using Helenius instead of a PED using Whyte.

What’s the point of testing fighters before the fight if they then allow them to fight and publish adverse findings after the event?
I saw him interviewed before the fight and he was asked about drugs in the sport and he said it just doesn’t happen in his country and if anyone did they are shunned by the public.

The people who go on about it like that in interviews are guaranteed users.

It still SHOULD be a deterrent for people but doesn’t seem to be the case lately.Controversial wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 01:58 What’s the point of testing fighters before the fight if they then allow them to fight and publish adverse findings after the event?

I said it previously but what’s concerning for me if this it’s another case of a fighter testing positive on additional testing. That’s Benn, Whyte, Baumgardner and now Helenius in the last 12 months whilst I’m not aware of any UKAD failures in that time.
VADA/DFSport is probably used on something like 0.5% of fights yet seems to be catching more cheats than mandatory testing.
Helenius fought Wilder on PPV last year. Wonder if they had any additional testing? Same for his fights with Kownacki.
Worrying times for the sport.

What is the difference in the testing, I assume UKAD and VADA have the same banned substances they check for so how can one test differ from another test? Is it just that VADA test more often than UKAD?maverick23 wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 03:09Controversial wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 01:58 What’s the point of testing fighters before the fight if they then allow them to fight and publish adverse findings after the event?

The banned list for UKAD and VADA is similar but not exactly the same. I think UKAD follows the WADA list.Controversial wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 03:26What is the difference in the testing, I assume UKAD and VADA have the same banned substances they check for so how can one test differ from another test? The difference is the volume of testing.
UKAD performed 64 pre fight tests last year. This tiny compared to the amount of fights in the U.K.
VADA guarantees several pre fight tests for someone who signs up. Obviously Helenius only signed up 4/5 days pre fight but it made sure he was tested.
UKAD performed 153 post fight tests last year. Again that is tiny compared to the volume of fights here and is pointless for anyone with some intelligence of doping as it will be out of their system at that point.

Re: Robert Helenius adverse VADA finding
UKAD do almost zero random testing… hence why people generally don’t get caught till they’re on shows that go beyond ukad testing.
Re: Robert Helenius adverse VADA finding
Like I always say. This is why PED's should be legal. Didn't help Helenius any did it?
You're gonna win or you're gonna lose because you're a better fighter. Not because of some wonder drug that's gonna make you win.

lol reminds me of jean pascal, i think he t ested under usada and was always clean. and then wanted them and not vada for the kov fights
eventually he tested for a fight under vada and popped hot
read up on some of these testing groups, utterly useless

Probably because he’s 39 years old and not that good anyway. You can’t polish a turd as the saying goes. However it might make a huge difference to a genuine world class fighter in their prime.
Re: Robert Helenius adverse VADA finding
If he knowingly did it, must have struggled to keep a straight face when Hearn phoned him up offering a huge sum to step in for a drug cheat.

How many boxers at the top level are totally clean anyway? 10% maybe?

Not if both of 'em are on it. Then it's a wash.Controversial wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 04:46Probably because he’s 39 years old and not that good anyway. You can’t polish a turd as the saying goes. However it might make a huge difference to a genuine world class fighter in their prime.

But what if someone doesn’t want to take drugs? You are then either forced to because everyone else is or compete against guys juiced upgilgamesh wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 04:57Not if both of 'em are on it. Another prick who deserved to be rendered unconscious, as ridiculous as this is getting you just hope it's the catalyst for something to happen, boards, commissions and promoters need to step up, boxers dont have a deterrent, I've no qualms with Benn getting pelters, he's behaved like a total knob but why not the same energy for everyone else? Whyte's latest failed test is a distant memory yet for 18 months I've heard about Conor every day without fail

Re: Robert Helenius adverse VADA finding
conor and his team put themselves in that position by constantly giving people ammo and commenting on it themselves, on a nearly daily basis, often with disdain and arrogance (eg the apologies will be as big as the criticism) and making him to be the victim. conversely, most other ped failures go into silent mode. ffs connorr's had 2 full on media campaigns/tours now. if whyte did all this we'd see more about it.handsofstone wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 05:36 Another prick who deserved to be rendered unconscious, as ridiculous as this is getting you just hope it's the catalyst for something to happen, boards, commissions and promoters need to step up, boxers dont have a deterrent, I've no qualms with Benn getting pelters, he's behaved like a total knob but why not the same energy for everyone else? people do get selectively outraged but benn's team handled it in a way that was bound to get massive backlash, he earned all of it

4 in the last 12 months. Is it because they do more additional testing than other promoters? That’s my concern.unknownman79 wrote: ↑26 Aug 2023, 04:52 Matchroom not having much luck with these tests. How many is it now?
Has Helenius ever even had a random test before? Did he have VADA testing for his PPV headliner against Wilder?
