It's one of those, isn't it?

Had DD won on the borderline body shot would Tyson have been announcing his comeback in the morning... ?

Weird fight there, largely usyk as usual, going to work in his own way but dubois certainly gave him a better fight than I expected

No doubt about it though dubois doesn't have the mental side of things, physically he is a machine but he just doesn't have it up top, seems content to try and rise at 9 and whatever seconds knowing the ref will stop it, when he faces a bit of resistance he doesn't like it at all

Yeh but that's ignoring how one sided it was - how completely exposed Dubois was - against Joe Joyce.

And no disrespect to Zhang but he was throwing less and less as his fight with Joyce went on and the stoppage was down to damage inflicted in round one.
Damage is damage
Joe's weakness ithat he is cumbersome early in a fight was cruelly exposed by Zhang. In those first 2/3 rounds Zhang made Joe look old and clumsy, no doubt.

You have to wonder as I did if a boxer with such speed issues can rule the world.

The fact that JJ lost on a swollen eye and that he totally outclassed DD remains a factor.
The argument he lost on a ‘swollen eye’ drives me potty.

His eye went because it got hit repeatedly. it wasn’t some random, unlucky clash of heads, it happened because he was soundly outboxed for long periods of time.

Saying he only lost because of a swollen eye is like saying he only lost because he got knocked out.

If they fight again, and Joyce doesn’t change anything, the same thing will happen again. The damage may come out somewhere else, but it will come out.

How does Fury beat Usyk? Easy, English ref, English promoter, English judges. Elbow fukk out of him in clinches, lean on him with the weight and hold on for dear life. Twat him in the ballax repeatedly, knowing he’ll get away with it. When he’s tired, back to your boxing

Anyone seen that post on Twitter from a boxing fan who predicted the result down to the exact second? He posted below five days before the fight.

“Dubois will fight Usyk the way people wanted AJ to and it’ll make him look dangerous for the first 4-5 rounds and ultimately will be the reason why he gets stopped in 2 minutes and 11 seconds into the 9th round”

Usyk-Dubois Appeal Lodged: “We Expect A Rematch To Be Called”
https://boxing-social.com/news/usyk-dubois-appeal-lodged/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0PH1nXrwlY

In an interview with Seconds Out released yesterday, the veteran promoter confirmed that all of the evidence was being finalised and sent to the WBA by close of play.

“The appeal is being lodged today. It’s being finalised and will be with them today as per their appeal process, their regulations. So they’ll get it today and they’re going to have to hear it.”

Warren went on to say that ‘the worst case scenario’ in his mind was a rematch – seemingly not even considering that the sanctioning body may rule that the result stands and no further action is to be taken.

“I’d like them to do the right thing, and I think the worst case scenario is that they call a rematch for the fight … The governing bodies will have to sort [the timing] out between them. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be [immediate.]”

“I don’ think they will [call a no contest] being realistic. I’d like them to, but I don’t think they will.”

Dubois’ side believe they have built enough evidence to conclude that the punch was legal – something that others have so far been unable to.

“He deserves a rematch. The more you look at it and analyse it, obviously I’ve been doing that and also the lawyers look at it. And other people have seen things in it.

Respected people in trade who are neutrals, nothing to do with the outside or haters or anything. You can demonstrate in various ways through footage and photographs where the punch landed.”

if the sanctioning bodies give in and allow warren to basically over rule the decision of the referee then you have the type of legal precedent that would change boxing forever and not in a good way .
refs would have to be stopping fights all the time to review the footage or refer to a panel whilst the crowds went mad !
Take the DD /Usyk example - its still unclear to a few people if it was a legit punch whilst the majority accept it was borderline to low and hence there was no robbery .
But how long do you hold up the fight to make a decision and is that decision then going to be challenged after the event in the same way old fish eyes is trying to do now .

Its one thing to protect and support your fighter in the immediate aftermath but ffs move on !

IF for some ridiculous reason they force through an immediate rematch, it would be quite hilarious if Usyk bins the belt and says "Good luck with Wilder."

Well, me, obviously.

It would devalue the WBA title (deservedly so after lying to fans by reintroducing Charr as fhe regular belt holder) and as a bonus we get to see a knock out by Wilder doing what he does best: crushing cans.

Heck, it deserves the bin anyway if it tries to make the winner of Charr v Miller the next mandatory.
