I think for a true rivalry the guys have to have met at least 3 times, each guy has to have won at least once, and they both have to have been highly regarded.

Duran was on the canvas in round 1 of the first and second fights. From the same punch, too.

Duran v DeJesus II was on live TV on Saturday afternoon. We used to get some absolutely amazing fights back in the 70's. I remember DeJesus dropping Duran in the 1st, but Duran was in complete control by the 3rd. DeJesus was down in 7th, I believe, and it looked like it was over, but as Duran came in for the kill, DeJesus caught him with a wicked counter, that bought him a few extra rounds. From around the 8th rd, DeJesus kept telling Gregorio Benitez, he was out of gas. Finally in the 11th Duran put him down and that was the fight.

Never saw the first fight, but I've read accounts of it. DeJesus supposedly took Duran to school in that one. Knocked him down in the 1st, slipped punches and hit him with counters all night and just outboxed him. Afterwards Duran bloodied his own fists punching things in his dressing room.

According to their records on BoxRec, Louis "Kid" Kaplan
and Babe Herman fought each other seven times during
the 1920s. Each fighter won one bout by decision while
each of the remaining bouts ended in a draw. Note- I
think that the late Bob Soderman found another bout
between Kaplan and Herman.
