It's one thing for us spotty little Herberts sitting in our parents back room in our transformer pj's drinking Stella not knowing the exact ruling here but a lot of fighters still claiming it's legit, surely they must know for certain

From what I gather anything below the naval is low, that part isn't too far from in line with the hip bone which seems fair, a lot of Dubois shots that strayed low were around the side on the rather than the balls/pelvis, that being correct, the shot is clearly illegal

What does that have to do with anything?
That was the 9th round, he got hit by alot of clean punches before.
Dubois has alot of flaws, but he has a good chin and lots of power.
I don't care about Dubois at all, but he is receiving too much hate.

You ever got hit by a jab from a 100 kg top boxer?
Yes I have! A number of times and I was a lightweight!

I've also been hit on the belt before! As far as that goes I think the shot was legal
Does it not depend how low/high the shorts are? Also, some shorts have a much larger elasticated waste band than others.
The "belt" is defined as the top of the hip bone, and has nothing to do with the waist band of the short. The shorts could be around your titties, the belt is still where the hip bone is.

Okay…

Usyk shorts were high - nope. They sat on the line of the protector which is dictated by the protector.

It wasn’t in the balls so wasn’t low - nope. Low is between hips and generally indicated by the ref at the start of the contest. I have been too busy to rewatch so will have to confirm if this happened later but I’d be surprised if not. A punch to the bladder area can be both dangerous and very painful, it’s not a legal scoring zone.

Dubois should be winner by KO - nope. We really don’t know that if the ref had judged the low blow to be legal that Usyk wouldn’t have got up and seen out the round. Perhaps he would, perhaps he wouldn’t.

Usyk used gamesmanship/played the referee - IMO nope. When has he ever been anything other than an absolute, genuine professional? It’s POSSIBLE that whilst easily boxing rings around Dubois that he felt the need to fake but that’s generally what people being soundly beaten do.

Dubois should now be the deserved champion - IMO nope. If the low blow had been judged to be legal AND Usyk wasn’t able to continue, he would be the same type of champion that Rahman was when he beat Lewis in their first contest, actually even less so as the contest was much less competitive.

The commentators said it was legal so it was legal - nope. No explanation needed.

Dubois Admits: “I Became Disheartened, Lost Momentum After That Fifth Round”

"From then on, when he went down I thought 'OK, now the 10 count'. I knew he wasn't going to get up in time. He was holding his stomach. He couldn't move," Dubois told BBC Sport.

"But something in me just felt 'oh no, what's going on in here? This isn't right. Why isn't he being counted?' I'm looking ringside at what's going on, I see all craziness.

"I was thinking 'what's going on here, this is a blatant shot.' I told the referee I caught him and it wasn't low. It was just confusion at the time. I became disheartened and lost momentum after that, having to come back into the fight and try to push it.

"I was up against it, on enemy territory, but I wasn't out of my league. If that was in England that would be totally different. Circumstances make a big difference - home turf, home advantage."

well that's a major mental weakness he's admitting to then

another fighter may view it as 'i lost every round, but look now i've shown i can hurt him and he's feeling it. time to push extra hard'

If anything.. he should have used that momentum and jumped on him.

Usyk finished that round way stronger.

He got 'robbed' because he let Usyk repeatedly smack him in the face really hard.

Boxers always support their friend/countryman/stable buddy/whichever is of their race. So I wouldn't read too much into it.
