Hobson Accepts Johnson Bet
Hobson Accepts Johnson Bet
for $50, 000
Johnson's been getting cocky. Woods turned the bet down. Johnson feels that shows that Woods is scared. Hobson accepted the bet.

I like it when they get nasty in that way just adds a pep to it, I'm less keen on promoters slagging off boxers cos they don't have to back it up themselves.viciousmaussa wrote:for $50, 000

yes, there is much more needle in this chapter of Johnson & Woods. More at stake (this time it could settle the #1 light heavy, plus cazaghe in the background), more politics etc
seems johsnon was pissed that woods felt he could win by KO. i now hear that johnson's bet was that johnson would make it out of the first six rounds. hobson said he couldn't find good odds on woods - being that clinton is the favorite going in - so he wants to bet on who wins, obviously woods. johnson, to my knowledge, hasn't accepted.
i thought johnson wanting a bet was yank style bravado. but it seems more he was pissed that woods felt he could stop him

Nice to see Hobson take the bet.
Vicious, I know that Clinton has kept saying that this is for the #1 LHW spot, but in truth it really isn't. The winner will have a very good case for being #1, but one could just as easily put someone like Tarver (who I dislike) at #1 as well...there will be no #1 at 175 until we see some more marquee matchups (like this one).

the top 5 are very even woods, johnson, erdei, adamek, briggs. imo if someone does something special it may give them short term #1 status.Axe wrote:Nice to see Hobson take the bet.

i think tarver looked too much like a turd vs hopkins to be taken seriously as #1 plus he was stalling the division. ppl think that cos johnson is 1-1 with him that glen should be pushed to the front - but that is because they know nothing of the european fighters.
this is a cracking matchup, as he have 2x top 5 fighters. adamek-briggs II is another. Erdei really needs to step it up or the most skilled fighter in the division will get left behind.
I'd love to see Erdei school Tarver. I have little doubt that he would

You forget Zsolt Erdei.http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/ima ... s/nono.gif
I never forget Erdei
he's had some decent wins & has a superb style. He just needs to fight a top 5 or 6 opponent or he won't ever be #1 unless maybe he gets in the region of 12 title defenses and he can laud him for longevity
Makes me want to vomit that Jones Jr is trying to get a vacant WBA title shot against Branco. Tiozzo, get your weight in check (& fight Zsolt)

Dimissing Tarver after the Hopkins showing i would have Adamek as No. 1 but Erdei has the potential and the ability to be No. 1 he just needs some defining fights.Max Molyneux wrote:You forget Zsolt Erdei.http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/ima ... s/nono.gif
