0 big fights away: Joyce.
1+ big fight away: AJ (for Fury), Wilder (for Usyk), Ruiz.
2+ big fights away: Whyte, Parker, Bakole, Sanchez
3+ big fights away: Makhmudov, Wallin, Dubois, Yoka, Hrgovic, Demirezen, Zhang, Anderson, Winner of Shaw/Efe, Kabayel, Hunter
4+ big fights: Everyone else.
No chance before retirement: Ortiz, Chisora, Pulev.
Joyce is clearly at least a fight away, he lost his last fight by stoppage...
AJ and Wilder could definatly box for titles next fight and certainly dont "need "a big fight next to get a shot.
Ruiz probably a big win away...
Whyte parker bakole and sanchez being 2 away sounds about right, although 1 good one could get em there... BUT, Add in the rest of the divisionto the 2 big fights away... because the way heavyweights currently act every single fighter is 2 big wins away from a title seeing as 2 big wins is practicaly unheard off in heavyweight boxing these days....

So the August 2023 question is again, will the IBF order Usyk-Hrgovic and if they do, will Usyk pursue it??
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Filip Hrgovic - IBF Ordered
They will order it and I think Usyk will pursue it if Fury continues with ridiculous demands. Similar to the one with Dubois. Hearn has already said they won't accept step aside money so that could cause a problem.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑28 Aug 2023, 19:35 So the August 2023 question is again, will the IBF order Usyk-Hrgovic and if they do, will Usyk pursue it??

I'd say Usyk wins by decision, but Hrgovic is mentally stronger than Dubois, has a better chin and punches hard, so it won't be amazing if he lands a body shot and bends the glass-body Usyk.
Sure it is about time to force this 4-belts staller to defend them. He got used to the titles' shortcut. He won them 23 months ago and defended them once in that time.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Filip Hrgovic - IBF Ordered
He's defended them twice in that time aswell as having to navigate bogus unification talks twice plus a short stint assisting his country from an invasion. Think it's fair to say he's had a lot on his plate but has appeared willing to defend, just not against the undeserved opponent that he's forced to defend against.fifth_root wrote: ↑29 Aug 2023, 04:24 I'd say Usyk wins by decision, but Hrgovic is mentally stronger than Dubois, has a better chin and punches hard, so it won't be amazing if he lands a body shot and bends the glass-body Usyk.

Usyk beats Hrgovic all day long.
Their careers diverged a long long time ago. Hrgovic remains a good technician but he'll get his ears boxed off against Usyk in much the same way that Dubois did.
Even if it is a mandatory, the huge problem with this fight is that there's at least 2 other ones that would be infinitely more attractive (Fury or Wilder).
That's still the great thing about Deontay Wilder, he doesn't have dull fights. In fact no HW since Mike Tyson brings as much prefight excitement into the ring as Deontay Wilder does.
The ideal for the paying boxing fans would be Wilder v AJ and Usyk v Fury, and if they cared enough about their fans they'd give them these fights immediately instead of their interminable squabbling over the last penny.

Defended them twice, but should've done it more, according to the sanctioning bodies. Twice in two years for a man pretending that much is pathetic. 1) Usyk Vs Fury
2) Joshua Vs Fury
3) Joshua Vs Wilder
4) Usyk Vs Wilder
I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Whyte Vs Wilder, Ruiz Vs any bar Joshua or Zhang/Joyce against any of them but realistically, this is the Usyk, Fury, Joshua and Wilder generation in terms of belts and we have only see two matchups between them.

The WBA has decided it will not force a rematch no one wants to see between Usyk and Dubois.

Fury doesn't want to fight Usyk, so Usyk's next fight will very likely be with Hrgovic. I hope it's this year, in Nov or Dec. Negotiations will be easy, because Hrgovic and his promoters want the fight.

Hearn Expects IBF To Order Usyk-Hrgovic, Wants To Get Fight Done For December
Eddie Hearn, promoter for heavyweight contender Filip Hrgovic, expects the IBF to order a mandatory fight with world champion Oleksandr Usyk in the coming days.
Last Saturday night in Poland, Usyk stopped Daniel Dubois in the ninth round to retain the IBF, WBA, WBO, IBO world titles.
Dubois was the mandatory challenger under the WBA, and Hrgovic - the IBF's mandatory - is next in line to get his shot.
Usyk and his handlers are aiming to secure an undisputed showdown with WBC world champion Tyson Fury in early 2024.
In order to fight Fury, Usyk would have to make an application to the IBF for an exception.
But he might have a problem with getting that exception approved, because Fury has another fight scheduled - on October 28 in Saudi Arabia - against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
Although Fury-Ngannou is a non-title encounter, there is the possibility of Fury suffering an injury.
Boxing Scene had recently reported that the IBF is expected to order Usyk-Hrgovic in the immediate future - and Hearn anticipates the same.
"That fight will be ordered this week, in my opinion, Usyk against Hrgovic. What happens now is that Usyk will have the opportunity to request an exception to fight someone else. The only person that the exception would be granted is probably Tyson Fury. But because Tyson Fury already has a fight scheduled you can't ask for an exception, so I think that we should just get it done, get the fight made for December. We like Hrgovic's chances in that fight, he's definitely improved with his last couple of performances. We're ready to make that fight," Hearn told Boxing Social.

Well, if that's all we're getting, we'll have to take it.
We've still got Joyce v Zhang 2 and AJ vs someone?
With a bit of luck Wilder might even fight again.
The main problem is still Fury.
The main problem in the way of fan favourite fights has usually been Fury.
He will certainly not be missed for all of his ped/mental health excuses, belt sitting, empty excuses and interminably difficult negotiation record.
Oh well, whilst very cleverly and very carefully putting £100,000,000 into his pocket he did at least give us one good fight.
That 3rd one against Wilder will never get old.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Filip Hrgovic - IBF Ordered
Usyk procrastinated his defences long enough. He has been given the chance to unify, so the sanctioning bodies waited patiently for him to arrange his unification and he failed to do so. I doubt any of them will do it again. So Usyk will now have to fight more than once per year and he can no longer find excuses in others or whatever. Nor he will be able to continue pretending he receives low blows when someone hurts his tender body.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑31 Aug 2023, 03:16In order to fight Fury, Usyk would have to make an application to the IBF for an exception.

So, after all these years we get an undisputed Champ, but he won't even be able to defend the titles once?
That's some bs.
On one hand good for them to use some pressure, on the other hand where was this urgency when AJ had the titles?

Technically, the IBF didn't enforce their rules when Ruiz Jr. was champion. Joshua lost his belts in a voluntary defence against Ruiz Jr. Next in line for a title shot was the IBF mandatory Pulev. So really Ruiz Jr. should have been stripped for taking the immediate rematch with Joshua.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑06 Oct 2023, 02:22He fought his IBF mandatory..SendoTakeshi97 wrote: ↑06 Oct 2023, 00:22 So, after all these years we get an undisputed Champ, but he won't even be able to defend the titles once?

Though, the IBF may have just been waiting for the dust to settle on that spot of bother Pulev got himself into when he was suspended by the California Athletics Commission for kissing a "reporter". Pulev didn't seem to be pressing the issue at the time either.
