any ideas ? Boxer going to a school ?????
Anyone got any ideas that could be used to actually make this interesting ?
One of my boxers , who is turning pro in a few months has been asked to do a talk at a local primary school , weve been given no guidelines of whats required , its only a first approach , what could be done to make this interesting and to maybe benefit the local amateur gym etc , were talking 7 year olds here .

My 7 year old boy is in to boxing, and I explained to him that, ultimately, boxing is a sport that is played by very fit, focused and for the most part very talented individuals. I don't use the word "fight" when I talk boxing to him, they are "matches". Hard work, clean living and enjoyment of the sport you love are the key to success. Some pad work would probably go down a treat too. Kids love visual aids, so maybe a belt, medal or gloves to pass around.
I would have loved this when I were a lad! Best of luck with it.

^^^ Visual aids is the way to go. Make sure he makes some time for autographs! I remember when I was a kid and if anyone from the sporting world came into school, famous or not, we always wanted an autograph. Maybe get some cheap photos of the boxer made up for him to sign?

See if the school has one of those computer/projector thingies so you can do a power point presentation. Kids love pictures and it will make the speech much easier.
You just put your memory stick in the computer with a load of pics you have nicked off the net, with some personal ones and hey presto.
Don't highlight the danger and some of the more gruesome bits as they are only kids and it will prob offend the teachers!
Concentrate on all of the positive things boxing is about, training, discipline, respect, chanelling energies, being law abiding, anti drugs, smoking and booze, the glory, the fun, excitement, buzz, giving kids with limited choices a good avenue, money, prestige etc
Even if he gives a bs story about being off the rails and how boxing saved him

Id say you make it clear to the them about headgear and heavy gloves etc so that the wee characters arent having 15 rounders at lunchtime with goalie gloves on. Lol.
Ya never kno, maybe even inspire a future champ!

Visual aids and props as mentioned above are definitely a must when addressing young ones. School visits are part of my job and if you can get the kids involved physically it's easy work.
Get him to take in some pads and take the kids on them.

Get the little bastards skipping and doing pads

Re: any ideas ? Boxer going to a school ?????
ALL of the above , but very important first impresions are very very big with children , So if you show them say a punch , do it correcty , precisly and it will imprint in there memories ,,, like said before take some pads , line them up and let them all have a hit , go ouch , shake your hand , and maybee clutch your stomach , when the little goofy speccy one hits you , make his day LOL

A bit late. Those 7 year olds are now in their 20s.

Clipped the cheeky little bastard around the ear and got knocked sparko. That’s precocious talent. Bricktop will sign him/her pronto.
