No apology needed, and thanks for sharing. Amazing experiences and really good to hear Hatton was so kind to you and your son. Cheers Spud.Spud wrote: ↑03 Sep 2023, 08:12I worked for Dennis Hobson for loads of shows and him signing Ricky on a contract was amazing ….
I worked on the Maussa fight in Sheffield and then the Urango and Castillo fights in Vegas.
You ask what Ricky was like, I say simply fantastic he was so kind to me as were Rickys dad Ray and Paul Speak his manager.
One surreal moment happened at the Maussa on fight, Ricky said to me “have you and Ginge (my son) eaten” to which I replied no. Ricky then invited me and Ginge to his room and along with a couple of other people we had a great laugh. Ginge was reading the Hatton/Tszyu programne, Ricky took it off him and signed “To my mate Ginge” then he signed it, there were painted montage prints of Rickys previous fights, Ricky did the same there. Ricky also signed a pair of gloves for ginge as well.
When we were in Vegas for the Castillo fight I arrived 5 days before the fight, I spent a lot of time with Ricky … a funny story … we were playing cards … the deck of cards were porn cards Ricky says “watch out lads, Spud has got an ace, look at him he is drooling. I forgot to say Sky were filming us.
Yep, Ricky was very good to me.
Thanks to working for Dennis Hobson on some big shows I went onto to work for David Haye
And also WBSS shows which saw me working
In Russia (Soch & Moscow), Latvia (Riga twice)and Germany. Have worked on shows in Monte Carlo abd all the major cities in the UK.
I have missed out loads. I started working for Franlk Maloney then Hennessy Sports.
Apologies for beibg paranoid.

A guy I knew a few years ago was a partner at Ricky’s financial advisors. He obviously didn’t go into any specifics other than to say he’d been completely screwed over and they managed to recover a load of tax for him.
Re: Documentary on Ricky Hatton due for release Aug 31st
Hatton fell out with his long time trainer over a lump of money, in a nutshell Billy Graham said he wasn't paid, his dad called him a liar saying he had paid him and Hatton believed his dad.
Down the line when ray was caught with his hands in the till, Ricky and Billy sorted it out and wiped their mouth.

Very very good doc, Ray Hatton seems like a reyt slime ball, get the impression Ricky knows he’s a crook but has opted to forgive him for the sake of his own inner peace

I thought the comment the mum made was quite telling that Ricky made Graham a millionaire and he still wanted more money said it a lot to me, sounded like they thought he didn’t deserve more. Isn’t this common with trainers though, fighters agree to pay them a percentage and when the big money comes they start to begrudge parting with more dough.Coco wrote: ↑04 Sep 2023, 14:49 Hatton fell out with his long time trainer over a lump of money, in a nutshell Billy Graham said he wasn't paid, his dad called him a liar saying he had paid him and Hatton believed his dad.

I remember Brendan Ingle telling me he never had any kind of signed contract with his boxers and they'd pay him the standard 25% as set by the BBBC. But when Naseem Hamed started earning big purses Brendan had to settle for £75,000 per fight as "Chief Second" instead of the quarter of the purse he'd be entitled to as manager.Coco wrote: ↑05 Sep 2023, 11:00Apparently FW said that he made Hatton a millionaire, and the Hatton still wanted more moneyControversial wrote: ↑05 Sep 2023, 10:53I thought the comment the mum made was quite telling that Ricky made Graham a millionaire and he still wanted more money said it a lot to me, sounded like they thought he didn’t deserve more. Money causes all the problems, when it is a percentage of not much it doesn't matter a percentage of a few million is. Hatton was lost without Warren and so was Naseem , both letting their families get involvedCoco wrote: ↑05 Sep 2023, 11:00Apparently FW said that he made Hatton a millionaire, and the Hatton still wanted more moneyControversial wrote: ↑05 Sep 2023, 10:53I thought the comment the mum made was quite telling that Ricky made Graham a millionaire and he still wanted more money said it a lot to me, sounded like they thought he didn’t deserve more. Talking of money.
I honestly thought David Haye was too trusting over his.
The amount of projects he put his money into was ridiculous. He lost a huge sum building an elite gym in Dubai.
Another fighter who was extremely good with his was Carl Froch who ploughed his earnings into property around Nottingham.
I am told Lennox Lewis was very good with his money

I think I heard that rumour about Froch being good with money and investing in property.
Anyone ever met him? I’ve heard he’s got a dry sense of humour

He’s really tight with it I’ve heard but yes he invested a lot in property. I think his brother has links to the building trade.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑05 Sep 2023, 13:20 I think I heard that rumour about Froch being good with money and investing in property.

Imagine having Froch as a landlord? Refuses to do any property repairs unless it's on PPV and with a crowd of 80,000 watching.Controversial wrote: ↑05 Sep 2023, 13:34He’s really tight with it I’ve heard but yes he invested a lot in property. Standard BBBC contract % for managers. Something similar happened between Golovkin and Sanchez when Gennady signed that big money contract with DAZN and wanted Sanchez to take a smaller percentage of his purses.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑06 Sep 2023, 08:5825% is a huge amount of a big purse, tbf.Teddy's Toupee wrote: ↑05 Sep 2023, 11:24I remember Brendan Ingle telling me he never had any kind of signed contract with his boxers and they'd pay him the standard 25% as set by the BBBC. It is rumoured that Adam Booth got paid more than 25% by David Haye.
