Re: Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou - October 28, 2023
im still of the opinion that fight is 'marinating' at the moment.
again, i can't imagine that fury would be scared to face any man in a boxing ring.
same goes for usyk.
still think it's gonna happen next year.
let's see how much money it's gonna make em both and i'm pretty sure its gonna be considerably more than what they would've got this year.
more money for both fury & usyk. that's the main reason it didn't get made yet.
again.
MORE.

I don't think there will be more money on the line than the Saudi deal.
Also, Usyk will be 37 in a couple of months, so there isn't much time to "marinate".
Also, also:
Making statements like that should be enough for the WBC to strip him off his title.

Is Fury a disgrace to boxing, in multiple ways?

Fight isn't for another seven weeks relax.

He should vacate his belt then
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou - October 28, 2023
Well fury talks and talks and changes his mind one day to the next, we know that.
One can kind of respect ring stripping fury and giving the belt to usyk after all his false retirements.
Freakshow fight, kind of fun for a novelty. Ngannou and Fury were linear champs in their respective sports.
Probably Fury can end it in a few rounds but there's always that slim punchers chance at heavyweight.
Of course should be usyk v fury next and shame on fury if not.... Still will be goods fights... Usyk v hrgovic, wilder v Joshua.

That's exactly what it is.
People were saying the same thing about Pacquiao v Mayweather and Spence v Crawford but look what happened.
The only boxer I'm aware of that didn't give into the temptation of an astronomical purse was Lennox Lewis.
His turning down of $25 million for the Klitschko rematch stands out all these years later.
As Larry Holmes said to Ray Leonard after his ill thought out match up with Mike Tyson, "Of course this is it, unless someone offers me even more money."
In Fury's case, we all now how little he cares for money, don't we?
After all he freely gives away his purses to the homeless and he's always said money doesn't matter to him in the slightest, hasn't he?
Or perhaps on the other hand, maybe that's all a load of misdirection, just like the personal problems that he's aired so frequently, merely aimed at gaining sympathy from soft hearted fans?
Maybe Usyk calling him 'greedy belly' is a lot more closer to the truth?
Anyway, since we already know Usyk is ready to sign now, this fight will be signed the moment the Saudis make Fury/Warren/WBC an offer they can't refuse.
Usyk, like Mike Tyson, might be an exception, but as far as most people go, no matter how millions and millions they may already have carefully squirelled away, it's always about the money.

this fight would be interesting with kickboxing rules.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou - October 28, 2023
For all the hype this fight doesn't sell to me.
It's not boxing is it, it's like Mayweather v Connor.

Tyson Fury prides himself as the man that beat the man.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou - October 28, 2023
It's not a fight in the slightest.
There's not a bookmaker on earth that gives Ngannou even the slightest chance.
If anyone even remotely thinks that Ngannou could pull of a shock upset, there's some very tasty odds being offered.
It would be money down the drain of course.
Nothing short of an act of God will stop Fury winning this at leisure. It would be like the world table tennis champ beating Novak Djokovic at tennis.
On the other hand Fury is taking absolutely no chances whatsoever.
The rematch clause is in place.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou - October 28, 2023
This fight reminds me of when Ali ducked Foreman and Norton to fight Antonio Inoki. Fury should be fighting Usyk or at least Wilder.
I like Fury, but he is obviously ducking Usyk.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou - October 28, 2023
He's definitely taking every opportunity to maximize the value of being Champion while putting himself at minimal risk. Usyk is definitely his most dangerous remaining challenger, so it looks like Tyson Fury is wanting to exhaust all of his other options first before taking him on.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou - October 28, 2023
Agreed. It's enough already with Wilder, and the 3rd fight was as good as it's gonna get with that.
Only way I'd ever want Fury vs Wilder IV is if Fury and Usyk fought and Wilder vs Joshua fought around the same time, and the winners clashed afterward.
Other than that. There's no other scenario where that fight could take place that would be acceptable really. It'd just be ridiculous.
After this here other than Joshua or Usyk there's really nobody left for Fury to fight. Maybe Joyce if he avenges the loss to Zhang?
But I mean. There's not really anyone left that anyone wants to see fight him. Other than those few names at the top.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou - October 28, 2023
He did stop Helenius. These HWs fight so seldomly, I was trying to come up with a 2nd name. Of course, Usyk, is far, far more worthy. If Wilder can get off his butt and KO Ruiz, he would certainly be more worthy than he is now.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou - October 28, 2023
We've seen that fight three times and Wilder has not won once. There's about 10 fights I think the fans would rather see before Fury Vs Wilder 4 unless something dramatic happens in their next fights.Tony1244 wrote: ↑11 Sep 2023, 13:11He did stop Helenius. Perhaps there are 2 or 3 HWs more deserving than Wilder not named Usyk. I'd still rather see Fury-Wilder than Fury-Ngannou. But yeah, I shouldn't have mentioned him because he won't even fight Ruiz.joshj909 wrote: ↑11 Sep 2023, 14:35We've seen that fight three times and Wilder has not won once. Re: Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou - October 28, 2023
You're right Fury should be fighting Usyk, Joshua, Wilder, Hrgovic etc.
However, we can't compare Fury's actions to Ali's.
For a start there are 2 huge differences.
1 Ali had already fought Foreman and would probably have beaten George again if he survived the first 3/4 rounds.
2 The Inoki fight was fought in Tokyo under mixed rules that actually seemed to give a slight advantage to the wrestler.
It would have been ridiculous to ask Inoki to take part in a boxing match.
There never was a braver boxer than Muhammad Ali.

Ali vs Anoki was always a stupid idea. Far worse than Foreman vs 5,Thomastearns wrote: ↑12 Sep 2023, 11:14

There's not a man born from his mother that could beat him so far.
Way he's looking he's either going to be bordering 280 pounds or someone will pull out.

I always thought the full quote was:
"I've never met a man born from his mother that could beat me in the ring
[, and I never plan to either]"
