Boxing Life Stories - I'm calling it now
Re: Boxing Life Stories - I'm calling it now
Ticked off 3 more Boxing Life Stories....Sam Sexton, Danny McIntosh & Barry Michael.
The Barry Michael interview is very good. I forgot how many good boxers he fought in a tough career and finally becoming the IBF super featherweight world champion.

good stuff, what was the Mcintosh one like? Remember him surprisingly winning European title
Re: Boxing Life Stories - I'm calling it now
The Danny McIntosh Pod went pretty much as expected, no real surprises and he's a bit of a nutter/loose cannon. He had a troubled background which would affect anyone.
His pro boxing career was covered well during the interview.
You have to respect McIntosh for always being prepared to take a tough fight. Lots of very good names on his record and, as you say, won the European title on away soil.
It's definitely worth a listen.

listened to it now and it's got me into listening to more of the previous ones. Brilliant and thank you
Re: Boxing Life Stories - I'm calling it now
Listened to the Jessie Reid & Boris Crighton Pods.
The Reid one was 50/50 and a shame it couldn't have been done 10 years ago. His age (81 I think) proved a bit of a barrier from getting the best out of him. A lot of repetition that took up too much time & struggles to control his emotions.
He put far too much weight on the Spadafora v Mayweather jnr spar in terms of how an actual fight would play out...laughable really.
Still some enjoyable moments, but bring your patience with you !
The Crighton interview was a real chore unfortunately. Although quite an upbeat guy he was also very contradictory to the point of irritation.
For someone who has benefited hugely from moving to Aberdeen he was full of borderline sob stories and, frankly, I couldn't wait for the interview to end after only 10 minutes into the interview.
Elliott Worsell next.

Love how Derrick Harmon shut Tris down when he tried to spout his woke trannie babble.

There were a couple of bangers in the background, got use to it after a while but would avoid it again if possible.

Tris sounded like a quivering social media addict fumbling around a topic while Harmon sounded normal and straight to the point.leejonesjnr wrote: ↑09 Oct 2023, 11:34The way I heard it, I really appreciated Tris quickly moving on when it was clear Harmon was about to be a cnt

No matter your position on the subject, I think we can all agree that the myriad of complex issues surrounding the trans debate aren’t likely to get resolved during an episode of Boxing Life Stories.emallini wrote: ↑09 Oct 2023, 16:30Tris sounded like a quivering social media addict fumbling around a topic while Harmon sounded normal and straight to the point.leejonesjnr wrote: ↑09 Oct 2023, 11:34The way I heard it, I really appreciated Tris quickly moving on when it was clear Harmon was about to be a cnt

Just finished listening to the Barry Michael one. What an interesting fella he is, great listen, and as ever Tris framed it really well.
Re: Boxing Life Stories - I'm calling it now
Indeed ! I'd recommend anyone who followed boxing in the 80's to listen to the Barry Michael Pod.

The Tim Bradley pod is an eye opener. In particular Bradley's honesty about how messed up he was after his war with Provodniko. It took him a lot of intensive therapy to even speak properly again.

Did he have any good things to say about Junior Witter? Bradley got a SD against the Brit, who was getting a bit long in the tooth.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑17 Oct 2023, 04:56 The Tim Bradley pod is an eye opener. Spoke about the Witter fight in detail. Worth a listen.polecateddy wrote: ↑17 Oct 2023, 06:12Did he have any good things to say about Junior Witter? I listened to it a while ago but remember it finishing without covering a few things, his fights after Provodnikov, the Pacquiao defeats and being vegan for example. Still worth a listen.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑17 Oct 2023, 15:07Spoke about the Witter fight in detail. They could have gone for another hour, easily. But what was covered was excellent listening.Controversial wrote: ↑17 Oct 2023, 18:08I listened to it a while ago but remember it finishing without covering a few things, his fights after Provodnikov, the Pacquiao defeats and being vegan for example. Listened to most of the Barry Michael one today and will listen to the rest tomorrow. Great to hear how sharp he still is, considering the wars he has been in, both in and out of the ring. Would recommend it to anyone, even if you have never heard of him before. Mesmerizingly entertaining.

Sure was and had to carve his own trail at a time when Aussie boxing was in a real lull.Controversial wrote: ↑18 Oct 2023, 08:21Yes Barry Michael a great listen, great fighter too, tough guyRedback Rasta wrote: ↑18 Oct 2023, 04:47Listened to most of the Barry Michael one today and will listen to the rest tomorrow.
