Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence II - Who wins?

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Terence Crawford Vs. Errol Spence Rematch At 147 In December

Terence Crawford revealed today that his rematch with Errol Spence Jr. will be in December at 147 lbs, and he’s already in training for the fight.

Crawford says the contract states that either fighter is supposed to notify in writing if they can’t make weight for the 147-lb welterweight match. Since he didn’t hear anything from Spence (28-1, 22 KOs), the rematch will be at 147.

If he wanted to be fair, the Nebraska native Bud Crawford could choose to take the rematch at 154, but it’s pretty clear that he prefers 147, as that makes it an easier fight and decreases the chances of him losing to Spence. If Errol is weight-drained, a victory for Crawford is a sure thing.

A full-strength Spence at 154 would be a nightmare potentially for Crawford; hence, he’s choosing to take the rematch at 147 to remove the potential of him getting beaten up and losing. It’s a clever move by Crawford and gives you a glimpse of his opportunist psyche.

“He exercised the rematch, and that’s the fight that should happen next, so we shall see how the negotiations go,” said Terence Crawford to Travis Hartman’s Chat room about the rematch with Errol Spence.

“We’re supposed to fight in December, and I’m back in training. The contract states that either one or the other has got to notify in writing that he can no longer make the weight. If not, the fight will be at 147.

Crawford can’t go the WBO ‘Super Champ’ route to force a title shot against Canelo, as that only works for one weight division. In other words, if Crawford wants to be mandatory for the WBO belt, he can do that for the 154-lb title.

“The contract states that it has to go at 147. Since neither I nor Errol notified each other, stating that we can’t make the weight,” said Crawford.

“There’s no comparison. When you compare Errol Spence to Terence Crawford, there is no comparison. My career, I’m already going to the Hall of Fame. If we retire right now, he’s not going to the Hall of Fame,” said Crawford.

I thought they were going to do it at 154, 147 certainly favours Crawford again.
Spence needs to make this a pure boxing match because that's where he excels, cut out the let's make it exciting and get back to raw strategy and figure Crawford's style out.

No desire to see it again it wasn't close. Crawford should take the step up and fight Charlo.

Spence? Who else is there at 154 that I can be arsed seeing him face? Tzsyu perhaps..

Bomac On Spence Rematch: “If It Happens At 160, 147, 122 It’s Still Gonna Be The Same Damn Thing”

“When the rematch happens, mark my words, the same thing is gonna happen,” Bomac told Fight Hub TV.

“If it happens at 160, if it happens at 147, if it happens at 122 pounds, it’s still gonna be the same damn thing.”

This doesnt need to happen. IT will be a repeat, if not more brutal, than the first bout.
If Charlo wants to cash in, and avoid Tszyu, he should make a deal with Crawford. spence squares off against Tszyu and then the two winners - Simple (if only!!)

Spence is now the big name gatekeeper for the 140 pounders moving up. I suspect we've seen the last of him as one of the real top guys in the division.

He may still pick up a belt though. Boxing being what it is.

Spence probably will be big name for the young 154 pounders... :maybe:

That’s a very winnable but dangerous fight for Errol too. We all know that Tszyu is easy to hit, but Spence looked it (admittedly he was up against the best). Tszyu will hit him even harder. Crawford really beat him up, Tszyu could really hurt him

I like Spence. He is a top drawer fighter, but I am not keen to see a rematch with Crawford who is an extraordinary talent and, I think, would have Spence's measure again.

Crawford every time.

The world doesn’t need to see an immediate rematch between these two.

I'd rather see Crawford V Ennis; meanwhile Spence can try and get some confidence back and have some fights against fringe contenders, or possibly even the ghost of Keith Thurman, if one time ever decides to haunt a boxing ring again.

If he looks good, then he might prove he is worthy of a rematch, but even then, I can't see it making much difference; Crawford is just better at everything.
