A mismatch like a lot predicted, Opetaia drilling Thompson with hard straight lefts from the opening bell and Thompson looking like a rabbit in the headlights, couldn't get out of the way of anything, Opetaia with the movement, feints and precision, had Thompson down and hurt in the 3rd, might've been stopped there but Opetaia got rid early in the 4th, rocked Thompson with that southpaw left then followed it up with another then a right which had Thompson down for the finish, looked great Opetaia but that was a shocking match up

Ha ha usually this kind of thing would cause a reaction on here, I think the fact that we'd just witnessed a slightly strung out version of Barrera v Lloyd, kept the jokers in check somewhat.

It was the one sided pasting that everyone expected, but Thompson did his level best and the fact he survived into the 4th round, with such limited experience, is noteworthy.

A bit harsh comparing it to Barrera v Lloyd....that was a sickening mismatch

wasnt quite as bad as barrera-lloyd but not really far off either. reminded also of kov-clev.

i dont think it's notable that thompson lasted 20 seconds into the 4th round - many jai opponents have gone further. thompson's obviously a physical specimen and a bit of a natural to make it to that stage (albeit as a soft challenger) with so little boxing background, but this fight was nothing positive for him in turns of what happened in the ring. he was brutally beat down.

hopefully he's not ruined, and can return at a more appropriate level. would be good to see him vs clark, zorro, lawal, riley, etc.
