15 Rounds Bantamweight Bout
Either Joltin' Jeff used his height and reach behind his jabs and combinations at long range to take a decision or late round stoppage or vice versa for Olivares. What do you guys think and who do you got?
Jeff Chandler vs. Ruben Olivares
Re: Jeff Chandler vs. Ruben Olivares
Chandler was a really good fighter and I saw probably close to a dozen of his fights. Olivares was great at 118. I would pick him to win by UD or late KO
Re: Jeff Chandler vs. Ruben Olivares
I don't like Chandler's chances at all in this one.

Jeff Chandler by unanimous decision.
Re: Jeff Chandler vs. Ruben Olivares
What's your analysis, tactically, on how this fight would unfold? You don't think Olivares's great left-hook to the liver would get the job done?
I'm surprised at your pick, because I always assumed Rockin' Ruben - in his prime - was a higher calibre fighter than Chandler. But then again, I haven't seen much of Chandler's fight films, so maybe he's better than I realized.

First, Jeff Chandler was very strong for a Bantamweight. His boxing and lateral movement could befuddle the great Ruben Olivares.Joson wrote: ↑06 Oct 2023, 16:56What's your analysis, tactically, on how this fight would unfold? Chandler was one or two fights away from All-time pound per pound great status. He is at least one of the best Bantamweight boxers of all-time. Top 10? Maybe.

Joltin' Jeff was also tall for a Bantamweight.

I'm a Chandler guy, but I think Ruben takes a close MD here.
