Why?
It is alleged that DAZN are not entirely happy with the numbers some of their Saturday night shows have been achieving?
Misfits … some of their shows are out performing some professional shows …
Why?
If the standard of boxing on misfits shows is so poor why are they doing reasonable numbers?
What are misfits doing that professional shows aren’t?

the ppl who care about 'social influencers' are a larger audience than hardcore boxing fans. they dont tune in for the standard of boxing, they tune in for the personalities and the circus of it all

Many of them are there?
What makes a hardcore boxing fan?

I have a dude at work who will talk to me about Boxing anytime that Canelo is fighting. Or when Crawford/Spence was going down. Or maybe one of the big Heavyweight names.
However, Zhang vs Joyce 2. Zurdo vs Joe Smith Jr, any of the solid fights that Hardcore fans would be interested in. He's not. He's only interested in the Blockbuster fights. He'd never even heard of Joyce or Zhang or Smith.
That's the difference. When your knowledge goes deeper. This guy recognizes the people that are seen as "The Face of Boxing" but he doesn't recognize most of their potential contenders.
He knows more than your average non observer, but not nearly as much as a Hardcore fan.
A Hardcore fan usually knows most names, contenders, prospects. In my case I even came to know many referees, and judges.
Of all the people that ever watch Boxing in their lifetime. I'd say only around 0.5% of us ever become THAT type of fan. We're rare birds.

Re: Why?
They shouldn’t.
I’m more interested to watch this weekend’s show than to see Tyson Fury vs Chisora 3 or Fury vs Ngannou (I do like the undercard though). That doesn’t mean I’m going to buy it though.
This weekend’s Misfits show sold out quickly and the fans will be there early doors and will probably watch the full show as the show as they have well matched fights throughout the show albeit at a very low level.
Re: Why?
Misfits is boxing on stabilisers for simpletons.
However, boxing itself has rocketed out of the view of most casual fans because its an unorganised mess of 60-54 vanity bouts at one end and interim belt ballarks at the other.
Only got itself to blame

Re: Why?
Misfits boxing and the like are not boxing as WE know it, they don't take our fans, they have plenty of their own fans, more than us, it's essentially Soccer Aid, it's garbage of course but it has no effect on the sport of boxing or very little
Boxing was shooting itself in the foot long before this trash came along, anyone offended by it needs to give their head a wobble
From what I gather, the masses are there from the first fight until the last , professional boxing would never..

Re: Why?
The success of low level “celebrity” boxing really brings shame on pro boxing and the people involved in running and promoting it.
Boxing should arguably be the most popular spectator sport in the world.
Nobody is interested whether one celeb can beat another at tennis or snooker or football or cricket, nobody would pay to watch celebs play those sports. If KSI had challenged Jake Paul to a game of tennis nobody would’ve known about it.
But human beings are fascinated by watching other human beings fight, it’s just part of our psyche. So given this fact it’s clear that to make pro boxing (involving guys with superhuman levels of fitness and skills) so unappealing to the mass market there must have been a sustained clusterfunk of poor strategic decisions by those running the sport.

Re: Why?
Successful professional boxers, like the majority of successful professional sports people, are typically very boring people by default of their focus on their one area of interest. There are exceptions of course - but they are very few and far between.
Add that to most shows being ticket seller v journeyman non events. Then it's easy to see why people prefer misfits type shows.

It may well worldwide. I’d say U.K. wise 5-600k is more than achievable. To put that into context it’d be similar levels to Brook/Khan.
The amount of content they’ve done is crazy and shows the need for increased content and engagement for pro boxers nowadays.

It's mental and as for it being hidden away, if there's any demographic that will know how to access this easily it's this one, plus you can get it on your Virgin remote, id imagine Sky the samemaverick23 wrote: ↑11 Oct 2023, 11:59It may well worldwide. I certainly did. It's not very fashionable but I like DAZN and have subscribed from the beginning, and do not think it is expensive. I watch of bit of the non-boxing content too.

The YouTube boys and girls are bringing the audience from whatever it was they did before.
The people watching these contests are fans of the person not boxing. They watch them playing Xbox or reviewing cars or opening kinder eggs or whatever and would watch them race a car, ride. Bike, play tennis etc

I'd like to see the father from Ryan's World/Ryan's Toy Reviews/Ryan's Annoying Shit on a Stick enter the fighting arena.

If KSI and Tommy Fury were playing a best of 3 sets tennis match this weekend would that have sold out the Manchester Arena in 5 minutes ?leejonesjnr wrote: ↑13 Oct 2023, 17:14Not true.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑10 Oct 2023, 20:34 The success of low level “celebrity” boxing really brings shame on pro boxing and the people involved in running and promoting it.

Tommy Fury is largely irrelevant to the ticket sales.

Tommy Fury allegedly getting 4.5 million pounds. Janibek getting 400k dollars and Gualtieri 300k dollars. That's a middleweight title unification. Mental

Re: Why?
if true that is crazy - fair play to Fury for fighting a nothing for that money. When you think of the type of damage the likes of Eggington take for a fraction of it, it makes the mind boggle. I love Eggington so it's not to pick on hiim, I just mean it highlights the gulf in pay between warriors and.....this bonkers misfits sagawrighty wrote: ↑14 Oct 2023, 15:16 https://www.sportspayouts.com/boxing/ja ... e-payouts/
