Press Release

Following his unanimous decision victory against MMA veteran Nate Diaz in August of this year, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and DAZN today announced that Youtuber turned boxer Jake “The Problem Child” Paul (7-1, 4 KOs) will return to the ring on December 15th.

The opponent has yet to be finalized and few details were revealed on where the event will land. While not stated, the contest will likely be part of a pay-per-view.

“Jake’s star power and popularity have proved that he has what it takes to command massive audiences worldwide and become the biggest name in boxing. In just eight professional fights so far, Jake has already demonstrated his historical commercial draw, that he is a force to be reckoned with, and that he is on the way to making an everlasting impact on the sport inside and outside the ring,” said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions.

“We are proud to partner with DAZN to bring Jake Paul back to global audiences on December 15th as he continues his unwavering pursuit to become a world champion and put on massive events.”

Marking Paul’s ninth professional fight, the bout will be available globally via DAZN - who also carried the fight with Diaz on pay-per-view.

“Jake Paul is a superstar in and out the ring and we are excited to once again have him fighting on DAZN,” said Joe Markowski, CEO of DAZN North America. “And what a run of shows DAZN has for you in December! Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, Regis Prograis, Sunny Edwards, Bam Rodriguez and of course Jake Paul all fighting live and only on DAZN."

Facing his first loss at the hands of Tommy Fury in February by an eight round split decision, Paul found himself back in the mix in August, defeating Nate Diaz by unanimous decision.

“8 fights in the boxing game and I’m already its biggest name,” said Jake Paul. “I’ve proved that I can headline the biggest global events and defy the odds. PPV after PPV after PPV, and I’m just getting started. My mission is to be a world champion and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get there. December 15th is the next step on my journey, and I promise you’re not going to want to miss it.”

Sergio Mora, WoW, that'd be Weird seeing him as A Cruiser-weight, albeit a "catchweight cruiser", weighing in the 180's very likely.
Mora won't be The Latin Snake at that type of weight-range.
He'll be The Latin Boar, or Wart-Hog.
Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor would sell, Big-time..!!!

I don't think that Conor would take that bout though.
The risk of humiliation is too much risk to be worth it.
Conor has more than enough money for 20 lifetimes.
"Nikita Ababiy", aka-"White Chocolate", would be a very interesting opponent for "Jake Paul".
They could make it for a 180 lb catchweight.

Press Release

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) today announced that Jake “The Problem Child” Paul (7-1, 4 KOs) will face professional boxer Andre August (10-1-1 5 KOs) on Friday, December 15 at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, FL.

Paul vs. August, an eight-round cruiserweight fight, will headline MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects IV, presented by Celsius Essential Energy Drink.

August has the most experience and KOs of any opponent Paul has faced in his career. Paul vs. August will be offered as part of the DAZN subscription package.

Facing his first loss at the hands of Tommy Fury in February by a split decision, Paul found himself back on top in August, defeating Nate Diaz by unanimous decision.

“I’m a professional boxer and I want to be world champion, so I need to pursue the path towards greatness against people who have been boxing their whole life,” said Paul. “So far, my entire boxing career has been on pay-per-view, but now it’s about more than business. Now I want to build my experience in the ring against seasoned fighters. I’m coming to prove my greatness on Friday, December 15th live on DAZN for the world to see.”

Hailing from the streets of Beaumont, Texas, August found himself drawn into street fighting due to his involvement with gang activity following the passing of his mother during his sophomore year of high school. Fueled by an unyielding fire and a growing passion to do more, he made a defining choice to pursue boxing.

At 10-1-1 with five KO's, August is coming off a unanimous decision victory over the undefeated 7-0 Brandon Martin and currently riding a five-fight winning streak.

“I don't talk very much. I’m all about that action! Jake Paul has the money, the fame, the team and the resources but he doesn’t have my hunger,” said August. “When that bell rings, I am going to go straight to Jake Paul and ring his bell and send him back to YouTube for good.”

MVP’s Shadasia “The Sweet Terminator” Green is also set to take on Franchón Crews-Dezurn for the WBC super middleweight title, as a special championship feature on the Paul vs. August card – marking MVP’s latest significant women’s championship fight as the company works to establish equity across the sport.

Tellez vs. Navarro, Medina vs. Temple Added To Card

The full undercard and broadcast team is set for the year-end installment of the Most Valuable Promotions' MVProspects series.

Promising junior middleweight prospect Yoenis Tellez and series regular Lorenzo Medina appear in separate bouts as part of the December 15 DAZN show topped by the Jake Paul-Andre August cruiserweight fight from Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Cuba’s Tellez (6-0, 5KOs)—who now lives and trains in Stafford, Texas—will meet countryman and Miami-based Livan Navarro (15-1, 9KOs) in a scheduled ten-round regional junior middleweight title fight. Opening the four-fight telecast, Medina (8-0, 7KOs)—a popular 19-year-old heavyweight from the greater Miami area—aims to go a perfect 3-0 on the CELSIUS®-sponsored series versus Joshua Temple (12-2, 10KOs) in a scheduled six-round heavyweight clash.

As previously reported by BS.com, Shadasia Green (13-0, 12KOs) and former undisputed super middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn (8-2, 2KOs; 1NC) meet for the vacant WBC 168-pound title in the chief support.

“We built the Most Valuable Prospects series on the foundation of giving young and upcoming talent a platform to display their skills and build their names on our stage. As we close out this year’s Most Valuable Prospects series on Friday, December 15th, we are proud to welcome back Lorenzo Medina, who alongside Yoenis Tellez, Livan Navarro, and Joshua Temple personify the skill and energy Most Valuable Prospects represents,” MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian told BS.com in a provided statement. “With Shadasia Green battling for the WBC super middleweight championship and Jake continuing on his journey to being world champion, this is not only a card every boxing fan can enjoy, but is exactly what we envisioned when we launched this series.

“Thank you to DAZN, Caribe Royale Resort, BoxLab, and CELSIUS for this incredible year of partnership. We look forward to unveiling our next six installments in 2024 showcasing more of the young, rising athletes around the world.”

MVP also revealed the full broadcast team for the show. Joining series regulars Wade Plemons and Dan Cannobio is renowned combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani and DAZN’s Todd Grisham.

Medina will enter his fifth fight of a productive 2023 campaign, all in the Central Florida region. His upcoming clash versus Temple will mark his third straight at Caribe Royale. He went the distance in a six-round decision win over Angel Napoles on the inaugural MVProspects show in May.

In his most recent start, Medina knocked out unbeaten Antonio Torres in the third round of their August 18 clash as part of MVPospects 2.

Temple has won five straight, including four consecutive knockouts all inside of two rounds.

Tellez continues his rapid progression from prospect to contender. The 23-year-old earned by far his most notable victory to date in a third-round knockout of former title challenger Sergio Garcia. The bout took place on the July 29 Terence Crawford-Errol Spence Showtime Pay-Per-View undercard at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Navarro rebounded from his lone career defeat with four consecutive victories. The former amateur standout picked up back-to-back knockout wins on consecutive weekends in October but returns to far more aggressive matchmaking in the all-Cuban junior middleweight clash.

MVP also revealed four preliminary bouts preceding the main telecast:

Zachary Randolph (9-3-1, 3 KOs) of Fairmont, WV will face Pittsburgh’s Michael Manna (7-5, 4 KOs) in a scheduled six-round cruiserweight bout;

Elijah Flores (6-0, 2 KOs)—a 19-year-old prospect and Caribe regular (sixth straight appearance)—meets Javier Mayoral (6-3-1, 1 KO), also set for six rounds;

Alex Gueche (2-0, 2 KOs)—an 18-year-old newcomer from Long Beach, CA will face a yet-to-be-named opponent in a four-round bantamweight contest;

Xavier Bocanegra (3-0, 2 KOs) also awaits confirmation on a foe ahead of his scheduled four-round featherweight affair.

August has a solid resume for a novice, good test for Paul on paper, wouldn't take much for August to be better than Tommy Fury

Jake Paul-Andre August Sets Record For Highest Boxing Live Gate Ever In Orlando

Another event, another record-setting night for Jake Paul.

BS.com has confirmed that Friday’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) show, live on DAZN, is now the highest recorded live gate for a boxing event in Orlando, Florida. Paul will face Andre August in an eight-round cruiserweight bout atop a show that has surpassed the mark previously established by the October 2013 Miguel Cotto-Delvin Rodriguez clash at Amway Center, home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic and which boasts a capacity of 20,000 seats.

Paul’s financial mark comes at the considerably more intimate Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, where his MVP company has held its DAZN series since its launch this past May.

“It’s unbelievable that Jake made his debut in 2020, also in Florida, and sold less than 1500 tickets with a miniscule gate,” Mike Leanardi, director of boxing for MVP, told BS.com in a provided quote. “Now in 2023, we’re back in Florida, this time Orlando, and despite it being a week before Christmas and him facing a formidable but unknown opponent, Jake broke Miguel Cotto’s record for the highest gate and average ticket price of any boxing event in Orlando’s history.

“Just being mentioned in the same breath as Cotto speaks volumes to Jake’s star power. If anyone still doubts Jake Paul, I’m proud to say they’ve been proven wrong yet again. Thank you Caribe Royale and Boxlab Promotions for being a great partner for this record-breaking night.”

Paul made his pro debut on the January 2020 pre-Super Bowl DAZN show in Miami Gardens, Florida. The event was topped by Demetrius Andrade’s knockout win over Ireland’s Luke Keeler, but—as witnessed by Boxing Scene, who covered the event from ringside—the crowd at the pop-up venue emptied out shortly after Paul’s first-round knockout win over fellow influencer AnEson Gib.

By his third fight, Paul has headlined his own shows. His April 2021 first-round knockout win over Ben Askren came during Covid restrictions and thus without a crowd at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. His five subsequent stateside appearances have now registered boxing-best live gates for those venues, beginning with his August 2021 homecoming victory over Tyron Woodley at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland.

From there came: the highest-grossing combat sports event at AMALIE Arena in Tampa for his December 2021 rematch versus Woodley; the highest-grossing boxing and second-best combat sports event for his October 2021 victory over Anderson Silva at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale and his victory over Nate Diaz this past August at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Another financial benchmark was established, this time at a venue with whom his company plans to conduct business well into the future. Friday’s show is the fourth edition of his Celsius®-sponsored Most Valuable Prospect series, which is already guaranteed to run through the end of 2024.

"On behalf of Caribe Royale Resort and Boxlab Promotions we’re extremely proud to partner with Jake Paul and MVP on the highest grossing boxing event in Orlando history," said Amaury Piedra, Managing Director of Caribe Royale Resort and President of Boxlab Promotions. "This just further validates that Orlando has become the capital of Championship Boxing not only in Florida but a player on the national stage as well."

Paul’s fight versus August (10-1, 5 KOs) airs live on DAZN, his first non-PPV event since his January 2020 pro debut. The four-fight livestream is co-anchored by the WBC super middleweight title fight between number-one contender and MVP-signed Shadasia Green (13-0, 11 KOs) and former undisputed champ Franchon Crews-Dezurn (8-2, 2 KOs).

Jake Paul Comes In At Career-High 199.4 Pounds For Fight With Andre August

Jake Paul came in seven-plus pounds heavier Thursday than for any of his first eight professional fights.

Paul stepped on the Florida Athletic Commission’s scale at a career-high 199.4 pounds for his eight-round cruiserweight fight against Andre August on Friday night in Orlando, Florida. August officially weighed 198.6 pounds.

The 26-year-old Paul (7-1, 4 KOs) will fight a pro boxer for just the second time in a career he launched in January 2020 when he squares off against August (10-1-1, 5 KOs). The 35-year-old August has won five fights in a row since his lone loss, a third-round, technical-knockout defeat to Eric Abraham (then 3-3) in September 2018 at Arabia Shrine Center in Houston.

Paul, of Westlake, Ohio, defeated former UFC star Nate Diaz by unanimous decision in his last fight, a 10-rounder August 5 at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Paul weighed in 14.4 pounds lighter for his fight with Diaz, who also weighed 185 pounds.

Tommy Fury dealt Paul his only loss in his previous fight, an eight-rounder England’s Fury won by split decision February 26 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

The bout between Paul and August will headline DAZN’s four-fight stream Friday night from Caribe Royale Orlando. The weights for the six Paul-August undercard bouts are listed below.

Yeah, wondering why you haven't put up the running order yet !?

It's actually a decent card of real boxing at an earlier hour than usual, plus a Jake Paul 8 rounder.
I quite like watching Jake and I've got a bet on it... :box:
