He's alright but his punditry isn't great, far too bias, I remember him saying Galahad got KTFO by Martinez because he was weight drained, if Galahad had looked sluggish and his timing was off and he looked like he just couldn't get going then id agree but he was pissing it, had Kiko down before getting nailed , caught with a big shot nothing more nothing less, the fact Bellew tried to make it something else annoyed me

Never dethroned a champion.
Always won vacant belts

Re: Tony Bellew
Complete n0b-head whilst actively fighting.
Had very good luck towards end of career which hugely flattered his actual ability.
Can tolerate him a lot more now - kinda like Carl Froch in that he is a lot more likeable now than then. Unfortunately Froch is intelligent; Bellew is not.

That’s because he doesn’t like Dom Ingle & wanted to make out it was Dom’s fault. He’s got a weird obsession with him.handsofstone wrote: ↑21 Oct 2023, 12:02 He's alright but his punditry isn't great, far too bias, I remember him saying Galahad got KTFO by Martinez because he was weight drained, if Galahad had looked sluggish and his timing was off and he looked like he just couldn't get going then id agree but he was pissing it, had Kiko down before getting nailed , caught with a big shot nothing more nothing less, the fact Bellew tried to make it something else annoyed me

How he dealt with the whole Conor Benn drug test failure.. come on guys let’s not forget!
He’s one of the worst of the worst.

made the most of his ability. Thought he was finished when Stevenson broke him but fair play to come back. Lucky to fight who he did for a vacant belt but he won.
very loyal to his friends which is admirable.
rubbish at acting.

I think it was just plain old bias towards the Matchroom fighter, even PED heads get the preferential treatmenta force wrote: ↑21 Oct 2023, 12:36That’s because he doesn’t like Dom Ingle & wanted to make out it was Dom’s fault. I don't like the idea of a thread set up specifically to call someone a cnt

I don't think he's a pudendum, think he achieved well and earned well and is loyal to his friends. I liked the fact he got dropped but got up to win vs Mckenzie. And avenged the first Cleverley decision.
And had the guts to go in with Usyk.

If ever there was someone that it would be okay with, sure, its Bellew, but the internet is already a shit show, what's the point in adding to it for the sake of it?Lightsoot wrote: ↑21 Oct 2023, 14:21Chill out. My personal view is that Bellew was/is a massive….Bellew. But…. considering his lame / struggles at light heavy vs Ajisafe, Cleverly and Stevenson, moving to cruiser was a genius decision.
He overachieved in the end for me. His world title victory over Makubu has aged very well, plus two unforgettable nights vs Haye and a creditable loss to Usyk.
Think Tony can be very proud of what he achieved.

indeed, no one has the right to say don't do X thread. If you don't like it don't comment on it.Lightsoot wrote: ↑21 Oct 2023, 14:38I think this is a forum so we should be entitled to debate?leejonesjnr wrote: ↑21 Oct 2023, 14:27If ever there was someone that it would be okay with, sure, its Bellew, but the internet is already a shit show, what's the point in adding to it for the sake of it?

Most fighters can have their careers torn to shreds. I think most of us would be proud to have a career like his, decent wins at LHW, CW and HW. Also won British, Commonwealth, European and World titles which many don't manage.

Had a good run towards the end of his career. Not many gave him a chance against Haye.
Not keen on his views about Benn after being so against drugs before.

I'm sure Bellew cares little about what we think!

Re: Tony Bellew
Yeah but he is the millionaire former double ABA, British, Commonwealth, European and World Champion
Re: Tony Bellew
Good for him. Still gives us, and anyone else, a right to a view though. And the irony of your thoughts is that for all his wealth, Bellew still throws his toys when he’s rattled by an opinion he doesn’t agree with.
Re: Tony Bellew
Well for the person on the outside, when a discussion has been started over a sportsman, essentially something to criticise him, maybe neither would care too much about the others opinion, but the keyboard warrior falls into insignificance compared to the hugely successful fella.
And the hugely successful fella isn't starting internet threads against the keyboard warriors!
Anyway, I have prob got into this as I am bored of the Catterall fight
