That's an interesting take on Catterall's mindset, I've not noticed that myself, but he seems perpetually restrained and unwilling to put his foot on the pedal.
I'm not expecting recklessness, but there has been too many occasions where he's left fans disappointed.

he boxes like a talented guy who cant be arsed in the ring. never ups the gear, never digs himself in or really commits. looks bored after a few rounds in there. he has said he often didnt focus on boxing when he was an am, doesnt surprise me

i didnt watch all the fight as i was switching between the two dissapointing main events, after catterall hurt him he should have stepped on the gas and stopped Linares he looked like he was there for the taking.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 Oct 2023, 04:19 he boxes like a talented guy who cant be arsed in the ring. never ups the gear, never digs himself in or really commits. looking things up, he has said he often didnt focus on boxing when he was an am, doesnt surprise me

That's the biggest single flaw in "El Gatto"...he has long since looked to pounce when an opportunity presents itself.
Jack fails to grasp the nettle in so much as professional boxing is also an entertainment business too![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)
I suspect this comes down to a fear of being knocked out, stopped or running out of gas.
