Critics Of Boxing
What is at the very top of your list when critiquing boxing?
What do you think about those within boxing who treat people with contempt who critise them on social media?

too much uninspiring and downright sh!tty matchmaking
Re: Critics Of Boxing
The total inability recently to build up a talented and entertaining boxer into someone I want to watch and back.
I barely watch an undercard these days.

Four+ world champions in every weight division. It's complete nonsense.

Re-hydrating after weigh in. Sometimes, plays a massive part in the fight and can be unfair.
Can't make the weight, move up and fight guys around your natural weight.

very elitist and snobby. moan constantly the sport doesnt get enough coverage then call everyone a casual when it does. basically they are like teenage girls in a playground constantly bitching. moan when fights get made then whinge when they do.

Re: Critics Of Boxing
I have had a lot to say about the sport but after working in the sport for 24 years i feel
Qualified to do so.
Boxing at the moment is at its lowest point.
Re: Critics Of Boxing
i respectfully disagree. people have been saying that on and off for years. the Klits were gonna kill of the heavyweight division.... warren was gonna ruin British boxing.... theres always another lowest point.Spud wrote: ↑24 Oct 2023, 19:47I have had a lot to say about the sport but after working in the sport for 24 years i feel

Multiple governing bodies, all corrupt and beholden to various promoters or TV interests.
The best fighters studiously avoiding each other for years on end. World champions fighting once every 2 years but continuing to hold belts hostage.
Don’t know how to fix it, but somehow merging the various governing bodies would be a start.

The best don't fight the best. They don't want to.

Re: Critics Of Boxing
agree. this should be changed. like having to weight between a range for a week. surely no boxer would stay dehydrated for a week and then hyrdate after the final weigh-in. Shirley not
Re: Critics Of Boxing
Where do I start?
I'd throw the entire sport in the bin and start again from scratch.

They should be made to. Not given a choice just told. Man Utd don’t choose to play Liverpool. They have to. Djokovic doesn’t choose to play Nadal. He knows he has to.
Boxing is the only top sport where the choice of fighting your competitors is optional. And there is no consequence to not doing so.

Re: Critics Of Boxing
The idea that losses are catastrophic, and not part of a normal process of learning and improvement, like in any other sport (including other combat sports).
Anyone paying to turn up and watch this sport deserves better than matches involving a "prospect" (i.e. anyone with a pretty record) against opposition who don't have the desire or ability to win (often they have neither).

Re: Critics Of Boxing
Promoters/broadcasters not knowing how to build up a prospect. Promoters hogging the cameras/interviews instead of allowing the boxer to be the attraction. Licence holders allowing the board to walk all over them. The list is endless

Inactivity. Fighters who fight three times a year are an absolute premium. Two times is active. Many dont seem to manage one a year. Especially near the top.
Where the fornicate you at Gervonta, Teo, josh taylor, charlo, ennis, bivol, berbetiev, fury, wilder, garcia....etc, etc. Fighters have one fight then talkshit for the next 12-18 months. Its boring as fornicate man.
