Definitley! And it doesnt feel like rocket science either!garethhop wrote: ↑31 Oct 2023, 09:13Exactly this. Just put two good fights on between 8.30pm and 10.30pm on a Saturday night, in front of a decent atmosphere, with one of the fighters being someone I've heard of before, and if it can be both, that's amazing! That's all I want, on a regular basis. I ain't getting it, that's for sure.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑31 Oct 2023, 08:42Fcuk me, you sound like a promoter. "Thats not how boxing works". Like a tag line for Ed and Frank for putting on shite shows.
As a fan, who likes watching boxing, i'd have much rather watched cordina against Zelfa or cacace in an arena suitable for a welshman facing a world rated manc or irishman.
Monte carlo shows are shit. No idea what he gets paid, hope its decent. Doesnt feel like he's maximising his profile.
If he wins, and gets foster next, fair play. But it isnt always how boxing works and it aint a superfight. As for eddie, he can barely make any fight these days, never mind a superfight.

Yeah, read it at the time. Still find it strange if he's getting paid more for this fight than zelfa or cacace, which are both very winnable and would build up his stock more.
After relative obscurity and inactivity he's been on fire recently. Seems daft to have a step down, and who knows this could be a potential banana skin.
Fair play - ultimate goal is unification fights.

I really like Souleymane Cissokho, a very nice stylist with a couple of very good wins on the road. Him and Isaias Lucero should be a good fight. Sivenathi Nontshinga is never in a dull one and the Adrian Curiel fight should be no exception. I don't usually like much female boxing, Ramla Ali's rematch with Julissa Alejandra Guzman will be one I'll watch. Cordina's is likely to be an easy one, I just hope it's entertaining.
All in all, I'm looking forward to Saturday's show.

I’ll probably watch the card.
These kind of fights are only ok for Cordina if he’s fighting 3/4 times a year. He isn’t so it’s disappointing but may end up a decent fight.

Wasn't he saying on Twitter earlier when he was asked about fighting Zelfa "that's a hard fight, but I'm not getting paid enough for a hard fight"? Really making more for this than the Rakhimov or Ogawa fights? Site fee must be sizeablejwfg wrote: ↑01 Nov 2023, 11:12Career high purse from what I hear on the vine.maverick23 wrote: ↑01 Nov 2023, 11:08 I’ll probably watch the card.

Brave move that Ali girl going straight back in with the girl who beat her. The power difference looked considerable, hard to see how she turns it around.
Re: Joe Cordina vs. TBA | DAZN - 30 September 2023
Joe really should be a bit of a superstar, at the very least in the Bernard Dunne kind of mold. Exciting style of late, good looking, good talker and seems to be a nice guy. Many of us said he would be Wales' next world champion as soon as he turned pro but it just hasn't kicked on for him really with the mass public.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑08 Jul 2023, 08:04 Joe is 31 now.
Good time to be a world champion.
But Hearn has to deliver better than just some domestic world title in house fights.
He gotta get bigger fights done for him.
Pay the money that’s being Freed up from ‘losing Canelo’ and get the unifications done.
I really do blame the restrictive viewing of DAZN for this.
Re: Joe Cordina vs. TBA | DAZN - 30 September 2023
In all fairness, he's the IBF super featherweight champion. He'd have to do something really special to turn that into superstardom. How many of the IBF SF champs of the past are classed as superstars?stujones wrote: ↑02 Nov 2023, 05:35Joe really should be a bit of a superstar, at the very least in the Bernard Dunne kind of mold. Steve Robinson was a WBO champion when WBO was very disregarded.jwfg wrote: ↑02 Nov 2023, 05:40In all fairness, he's the IBF super featherweight champion. Bernard Dunne was Super Bantam Champion (and wasn't it a vacant title?)
Both I would consider bigger stars than Cordina.
Frampton also was a bigger star even before he bagged a world title.
Re: Joe Cordina vs. TBA | DAZN - 30 September 2023
I agree. The Welsh love their own, so hopefully Joe can crossover. He doesn't have the Cinderella story that Robinson did.stujones wrote: ↑02 Nov 2023, 06:00Steve Robinson was a WBO champion when WBO was very disregarded.jwfg wrote: ↑02 Nov 2023, 05:40In all fairness, he's the IBF super featherweight champion.
