Spinks by UD in both's prime, though I could see Matthew shaking up Michael a little bit.

The great Michael Spinks was a thinking man's fighter. A great tactician and complete fighter.

Spinks by unanimous decision. Matthew Saad Muhammad was very strong in his prime. Hard to stop or discourage.

Spinks would outbox Saad Muhammad behind his jabs and right hands on the outside to take a decision as he was too clever for Miracle Matthew.

Spinks wins on points in a very hard fought bout. Michael's superior boxing ability, power, defensive skills, tenacity, and demonic combination punching make the difference.

But it wouldn't be easy. The prime Saad was an unusually strong, hard-punching fighter who could box brilliantly or slug it out against anyone. Matthew probably hit harder than Spinks, and as we all know, his durability was second to none.

Saad's leaky defensive is an important factor here. It's not good to have a shabby defensive when your opponent is Mike Spinks, a proven KO artist.

This fight probably goes much like Spinks's victories over Eddie Mustafa Muhammad and Eddie Davis, two bouts where Michael had his hands full.

Nonetheless, I do think there's an outside chance that Saad could turn the tables and win a decision. But I wouldn't bet on it. Overall, I say 75% to 80% likelihook of Spinks victory.

I agree. But, concerning tactical skills and boxing ability, Saad was no slouch. If he chose to box Spinks, instead of slugging it out, things could get interesting.

Remember how Saad boxed, jabbed, and danced for most of his first fight against Yaqui Lopez? That was one of the few times Saad focused primarily on boxing, not slugging, and the result was masterful.

Interestingly, in a 1980 interview with KO Magazine, Peltz rated Saad as the division's second best technical boxer, right behind Yaqui Lopez. Peltz argued that few fans realized this because Saad deliberately chose to brawl in most of his bouts.

He ranked Yaqui Lopez as the best technical boxer in the light heavyweight division. Really?

I think his exact words were "...with the possible exception of Yaqui Lopez." I was surprised by that opinion myself.

Guess I never thought of Lopez as a technical boxer, though certainly a good fighter. Would probably have had Eddie Mustapha Muhammad as the best technically at the time.

What did you think of Galindez-Lopez II, a fight that so many fans and journos believe Lopez won? I watched it, but found it incredibly difficult to score.
