Jones? Fought the best, again and again? Floyd? Picked his opponents. Gave them a limited time to train. Picked the ref...

You can make all the same arguments against many other boxers.

Ali became the puppet of violent racist group who believed white people were created in a laboratory.

Fury is no different. But he gets different treatment. I'm not on any side. Just interested why he gets singled out.
Jones has more depth in his resume than Fury.

Most people don't actually like Floyd. I know I haven't met many that do, most people tuned in hoping to see him lose. He did face better competition than Fury albeit with caveats. He's not a good example to help your case.

Ali's racial/religious opinions are seen as a product of a turbulent time. People look back on the era as racially volatile and most people of the era had an emotionally charged opinions which seems surreal today. Fury has made controversial discriminatory statements in the modern age where people don't expect it as much. Even if you see that as slightly different, you can't compare the two directly like that and expect the same result. Plus Ali faced everyone and his legacy in the ring is there for all to see. Fury's is not.
Again... Not getting into the argument of whose shit smells the worst.

I'm not an apologist. Fury is despised in a way these guys aren't, yet they did the same things.
That’s just not true. Up until his recent shenanigans he was very popular, particularly with the causals. He was preferred to AJ in the end.

Hell, he got no scrutiny for his failed drug test and the farmers comments.

What was your round by round breakdown?
Can't find it right now but i think it was 1, 5, 6, 9 and 10 for Fury.

Which bit isn't true? He's not despised? Or he didn't do the same things?

Seems to me like he mouthed off (like many boxers). And people bought into it. It's akin to a footballer kissing the badge,

The only people upset are those who fell for it.

I should have clarified …. He’s not been despised overall in his career.

He got far bigger passes than those guys did, but has just shot himself in the foot recently.

I just never saw multi page threads lambasting Jones. Nobody ever brings any of this up when they talk about Ali. Mayweather had as many fans as he did detractors.

I guess people enjoy it.

I guess because he's so vocal about things and invariably contradicts himself, lies or doesn't do what he said he was going to do.

If you build your fan base up to expect one thing and then do the the opposite and slagging off the initial plan then repeat that over and over again then they're going to get tired.

It's nice to see people sucked in by badge kissers and self-promoters. Even better to see them write essays explaining why they are right. Then all band together.

Boxers spout nonsense 7 days a week. All I asked is why the herd want to tar and feather some but not others?

So it's just the true believers who have been scorned who are so upset. Those who never believed a word remain neutral.

Some are and some have said they've changed their mind on him. Like I said previously, there's so many possible things that he has done that could wind people up, it only takes one specific thing for different people.

fury won by a whisker (and should be ashamed of himself). He stole all the quiet rounds whilst Francis won his rounds bigger (who should be extremely proud of himself). If he wasn't such a big outsider it wouldn't be such an issue. Basically fury couldn't handle someone so freakishly strong who he couldn't lean on. Francis won the "fight" and fury won the boxing match. But cries of "robbery" are ridiculous. a robbery is when someone wins by at least 3 clear rounds and doesn't get the decision. This was a close fight.

I also think francis may well get dealt with comfortably if he fights vs a boxer who actually prepares if he chooses to box again. MMA fans have a hard on as if hes the second coming, but the fight flattered to deceive in my eyes.

I think as a forum we should go back to focusing on the actually fights and performances and ignore all the fight promotions and out of the ring behaviours as it just turns every thread into a tedious bickering contest that no one will ever win.

Here's what I reckon will happen, Fury will retire, it'll take the pressure off him fighting Usyk, the Ngannou rematch or even Joshua, none of which I believe he truly wants, especially Usyk and AJ, he'll sit back wait on the dust to settle, let the Heavyweight division settle down a bit, probably wait until Usyk becomes undisputed and retires then he'll make his much in demand return to try regain control of boxing saying he's hungrier than ever and he's still the lineal blah blah blah

Fury has lost his confidence, and I think there is a good case to say he is finished at elite level. Although it seems no one wants to even mention that.

Even a 50% Fury should have been able to move around for 10 rounds peperring Ngannou with the jab and keeping himself out of trouble. Reality was he went life and death with a pro debutatnt.

Certainly the (diminishing) pro-Fury, he’s an all-time great camp, did (past tense) always talks about Fury’s amazing skills and high ring IQ. But it’s been pointed out a few times that the only really clever move he tried was in the very early rounds - this jabbing to the body to lower the guard and then attempting a hook. And then that all quickly went out of the window when Ngganou just started his steady round by round pressure. Fury just didn’t look like he had that many tools in his tool box …Hagler liked to refer to his boxing skills being tools in a tool box! Lol

Hagler also said "It's tough to get out of bed to do roadwork at 5am when you're sleeping in silk pyjamas."

Extra comfy Versace ones would be even worse.

But Fury doesn't care about silk pj's and the like, says so himself, drives a Passat, eats roadkill and washes himself with persil in a tin bath by the side of the house

Absolutely exactly the same as my scorecard. I would suggest the masses who had Ngannou winning dont know how to score a boxing bout.
