Ngannou vs Fury: who deserved to win? How did you score it?
I scored it 95-94 for Ngannou. I cannot see how anyone would score it 96-93 for Fury, although one of the judges did.
Fury threw weak ineffective jabs, and Ngannou seemed the boss in there. After the knockdown, Fury fought like he was afraid.
Who do you think deserved to win?

7 rounds to 3
96-93 Fury
Easy to score I thought. Every round was fairly clear.

Interesting that so many of you guys scored the 10th to Fury. If you had scored the 10th to Ngannou seeing Round 2 and 7 also as a Ngannou round, then he wins the fight.
I saw him winning the 10th, but not the 2nd and 7th.

The 2nd was close. The 7th looked quite ngannouish for me.

I thought Fury edged it.

I gave rounds 2 and 10 to Fury. 96-93 on my card after watching it the second time. Originally, 95-94 Fury for me.

Most people in the poll I made here think Ngannou deserved to win:

Watching it in the cold light of day and no emotion of the live event is completely different, I had Fury winning 97-92, he was appalling but just done what he had to do. Ngannou done well but he's no pugilist.

Had it 96-93 for Fury.
Not an easy fight to score because so little landed cleanly but Fury out-landed Ngannou in more rounds and only the knockdown made the scores in anyway close.

Francis Ngannou is an outstanding athlete, but I think this is unfair with the other ranked athletes, how can a fight like this with a debut be 10 rounds and official? Fight for the WBC title? Should be at most one performance, imagine the fiasco if the Cameroonian knocks out Tyson Fury, imagine the negative impact on the sport? It's time to stop this circus, they are not respecting boxing.

Carl's commentary on the boxing scene has been consistently exceptional. With his growing fanbase securing him more regular spots on mainstream platforms, I was really worried he would curb his honesty - but I'm soooo glad it hasn't! Consistently brilliant and always keeping it real @Geometry Lite

Re: Ngannou vs Fury: who deserved to win? How did you score it?
I am from I would say an older school of scoring. What I mean by that is I don't consider boxing a beauty contest. And when I am faced with an uneventful dull round I tend to score it to the aggressor no matter how ankward or unsuccesful he was in that round. (that's why I have Hagler winning clearly against SRL 116-112 for example)
With this taken into consideration I had it 96-93 for Ngannou. Fury was on the back foot every round after the knockdown. His overconfidence was punished early and he really didn't know what to do afterwards
But he did land the clearer shots in some of the said dull rounds but most of the time it was a single jab so for me it wasn't enough to win them but I would understand scoring it for Fury.
I really regret Ngannou didn't try just a bit harder in the last 2 rounds because we would not have had this discussion in the first place but he knew he got what he came for and had no reason to take any risks.

No, it's 6 rounds to 4 which would've been 96-94. Ngannou got a 10 -8 knockdown which knocks it down to 95-94.

Re: Ngannou vs Fury: who deserved to win? How did you score it?
I watched it after the fight.
Thought Fury won 6-4 in rounds, so Fury by 1 point because of the knockdown.
Fury was absolute dogshit. Ngannou was better than expected, and wouldn't have been surprised if he was given the nod.
Fury won the decision, but lost the fight.
It does highlight the problem with scoring. One round a fighter is dominant (less knock-downs or total batterings) are scored the same as someone doing just marginally better.
I'd be happy to score clear rounds 10-8 and knockdown rounds 10-7.

6-4 or 7-3 to Fury. Not a great fight to watch and I think any of the top heavyweights who throw a higher of volume of punches and move (not many I know) will trouble Francis. Fury was poor. It showed if he cant lean on fighters and use his immense size he's in trouble. Francis is tough, strong and has a long reach.
As poor as Fury was I thought he did enough to win an average bout.

If the guy that gets the knockdown only lands 5 out of 59 punches thrown, and the knocked down(Once), fighter lands 35 out of 55 punches thrown, then surely, to score the round 10-10 could be justifiable, right..?!Lenny Cravats wrote: ↑05 Nov 2023, 05:38 I watched it after the fight.

Note:I'm just simply drawing out a possibility/hypothetical. Not making a direct comparison to the Fury/Ngannou bout.
But yes, A boxer Could justifiably get a 10-7 round over a boxer that they only decked once in the round, provided the punch-land ratio is That Much of an Extreme Difference.
My initial point was that in my personal opinion, it Could be justifiable to just have it an even round if the knocked down(Once) boxer, out-landed the boxer who knocked him down, by a very significant margin.
Especially if the punches were the very telling types of punches.(Not mere pitty-pat) types of punches.

Upon consideration I'd give it to Ngannou.
Of course it was close, but, IF Fury had been docked a point for that blatant elbow then he would have lost.
As for his habit of repeatedly pushing opponents, well that's something future referees need to be aware of too.

145 votes for Ngnnou? You did say most people.Perkin Warbeck wrote: ↑31 Oct 2023, 21:13 Most people in the poll I made here think Ngannou deserved to win:

I think Ngannou, a 0-0 boxer edged it. Either way you saw it, win, lose, or draw Fury was badly exposed.
The over rated guy is going to retire, I think and ballon up to 300 + pounds and use drugs.
I say forget him, he's done.
Re: Ngannou vs Fury: who deserved to win? How did you score it?
The only issue there is that the forum and poll come up on a Google search. As a fellow poster on that board I can see who voted. The first four names I clicked on from the bottom were new users (some already banned)
But I agree. Fury looks shot. Time to move on

“It seems to me that it was Tyson’s plan to relax me. But I understand that I’ll have to work very hard in the ring in order to get the victory.”
Usyk intimating Fury coasted against Ngannou in order to give Usyk a false sense of security.

Re: Ngannou vs Fury: who deserved to win? How did you score it?
Fury won the majority of the rounds based on landing scoring punches, but never seemed to trouble Francis. Francis was landing fewer shots, but they seemed to bother Fury every time he landed clean.
Fury looked extremely slow and was stumbling all over the ring. It was embarrassing for Fury and embarrassing to boxing to think that's one of the best HWs boxing has to offer.
Just shows how alot of these boxers today get by on sheer size and aren't nearly as skilled as the past HWs. HW boxing has been extremely dull since the Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield days, it fell flat when Wlad was the king of the division and never got it's feet back.
I keep hearing how Fury is one of the best HWs of all time, I just don't see it lol. It's almost like people are grasping at straws trying to make these HWs out to be something they're not due to how dull the division is these days and the lack of real talent.
I think Fury edged it, but unlike Floyd/McGregor Fury seems to carry all the advantages. Where as in the Floyd/Connor fight the only real advantage Floyd had was experience and Floyd was able to close the show. Fury never came close to troubling Francis, I'd almost say embarrassing is a understatement.
