It was close. I wouldn't argue with a Vazquez card either.

Classy performance from Cordina with no shortage of grit
Mightily close fight...I preferred Cordina's quality & class of punch, but very close.
I noticed Cordina struggled to put a dent in Vazquez, but that probably has more to do with how tough Vazquez is.
Good fight

Am I missing something?
He looked wide open and had his head rocked back countless times, more than I've really seen him hit cleanly before.
He'll want to be avoiding the top dawgs otherwise it'll end in tears.

This is boxing, people get hit. If he'd fought like Pernell Whitaker, he'd get slated for fighting too defensively.

Yep, he got tagged a fair few times throughout the contest. Vazquez looked like a stocky slugger yet he was cagey.
I suspect Vazquez's low KO percentage may have given Cordina confidence in his ability to withstand his punches...and he did cope to be fair.

Having just had chance to watch this fight, I'd say you could be right RE Joe's approach knowing he wasn't facing a big puncher. That being said Vazquez was good and opened up Cordina's defence fairly regularly, close contest overall and a very decent watch
