15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout
Zanon would have his moments outboxing Weaver in the early rounds behind his jabs and movement, but eventually in the mid-rounds, Weaver would wear Zanon down behind his jabs and body punches before setting the Italian up with a big left hook on the face that knocked him out in 8 rounds. What do you guys think and who do you got?
Mike Weaver vs. Lorenzo Zanon
Re: Mike Weaver vs. Lorenzo Zanon
Weaver by KO, anywhere from one to seven rounds. There's no way that Zanon, who had a particularly weak chin, would withstand Hercules's bombs. It's just a question of how long it takes Weaver, normally a slow starter, to get untracked.
But still, I agree with OP's claim that Zanon was indeed a tall, speedy, jab-and-run boxer who might have won a few rounds before getting KO'd. Possibly Zanon would be ahead on points when Weaver puts his lights out.
Another factor determining the outcome was Zanon's lack of punching power. He had lightning quick hands, but couldn't break egg. Hercules would have nothing to fear for this reason.
