If on point, Page by UD. But an overweight and unmotivated Page loses to Byrd by UD if not.

I thought on the same scenario.

Byrd by decision regardless of whether Page is or isn't in shape. Stylistically, Chris would have been a nightmare for Page.

Pretty much how I see it as well. Always a chance that Page would just go through the motions. the odds are though, Page would win this. Outside chance he stops Byrd, more likely by decision.

In my opinion, something that tells us how this would turn out is Page's two struggles against George Chaplin, who resembled Byrd physically and stylistically.

Greg simply couldn't impose himself on the shifty, awkward Chaplin, even in spite of big advantages in speed, athleticism, power, and size. In the view of many, Page deserved to lose the first bout.

Needless to say, what Chaplin could accomplish, Byrd could do that much better.

Maybe. However, there are some things to consider about Chaplin. First, he was actually a decent fighter. He gave Dokes a very close fight and could have even got the decision, but the scorecards were horrendous. Second, Page was pretty inexperienced when he fought Chaplin. The first time he had been a pro for less than two years.
Byrd was good defensively, but he was not the unhittable boxer than some people seem to think he was. He also had fights where he did next to nothing offensively.

I agree that Chaplin was a good fighter. IMO he was a solid top-15 or top-20 boxer at his peak. I also agree that he made Dokes look rather ordinary. But Chaplin wasn't nearly as good as Byrd.

BTW, didn't Chaplin come close to beating Page in their rematch? Or at least make Greg look bad?

Chaplinwasn't as good as Byrd, but Page was an inexperienced fighter at the time. the rematch was close as well. Page still was working his way up.

True, and with his father having passed a few months before, I think that affected him as well.

Page, Thomas, Witherspoon are such big what if.
What if they were more disciplined
What if they stayed in shape
What if they stayed off of drugs and alcohol
