When Furys career is finally over, and his best wins over the aged Wlad and the crude and unproven Wilder get further diminished. Will Fury be placed in the same category of poor world title belt holders like Valuev and Hide?
I think Hide has a better resume than Fury. Hide wasn't really big enough for the likes of Bowe and Klit but I think he would have preformed very well against Fury.
Hide fought 5 times in 2008 and 5 times in 2007 so he stayed active. I'd love to see how Fury would cope with fighting 5 times in a year

no cos he gave us some big nights
Clearly Hides big wins over a prime Tucker, and the fireball that is Damon Reed is at least on par with anything Fury has done.
Don't forget he was the only one to beat Willi Fischer inside the distance.
Also Fury beat by far the inferior Klitschko

It's kind of on a par with one of the top premiership teams being knocked out the FA Cup by some non-league club. On paper they should never lose or struggle but it sometimes happens. Underdogs sometimes play out their skin and the favourites under perform. We also see it in boxing, some hot prospect beaten by some unknown journeyman. I get that Ngannou isn't a boxer and was making his debut but he is still a fighter and someone who has apparently been keen for many years to get into boxing. It's not like he's a YouTuber who has just decided to try it. Add to that he is huge and by all accounts a massive puncher. I don't think many guys would be taking him out easy.
But this wasn't "non-league" Ngannou against "3rd team" Tommy Fury.
This would be like the Premier League Champions' 1st team scraping by a non-league team on penalties, including a scare involving a legit goal being wrongly ruled off-side. And next up is the Champion's League Final against Europe's best.

Well done Marc. I think your the last of the Fury fan-bois around here about now
To be fair your deflections (wise focusing on Hide rather than Valuev) aren`t quite on the Doofy or Dev scale, but consistent they are
* Valuev is a better comparison to Tyson Fury. Valuev even got a controversial decision over the great Holyfield similar to Furys controversial decision over the great Ngannou ..

You really think that Valuev is on the same level as Fury???
I don't get how you are trying to ridicule me??
No one is impressed with his performance against Francis, and everyone wants the Usyk made.
Nevertheless this new revisionism on Fury is confusing, suddenly he is on the same level as Hide and Valuev?
It’s funny, 6 months ago the pro-Fury lot were trying to sell Fury as potentially the best heavyweight of all-time based on his height, ability to fight in different styles and never get tired, etc, etc. The seems like a massive over-statement now. The Valuev comparison is an interesting one. Certainly when the Russian lost to Haye he had various ailments and seemed to have been a fading heavyweight for a while. But still he was a couple of years older than Fury is now - 36 possibly - and still performed far better against Haye than Fury did against Ngannou. Fury, who seems under-powered for his size, probably would have really struggled to cope with Valuev’s size and strength, punching up, etc. I always said the problem with putting Fury on a pedestal is that he’s hardly had any competitive fights and he’s not fought all styles. The Ngannou fight showed up plenty of issues that would have blown up in a properly competitive heavyweight era and not this quite poor one we find ourselves in.

How would he have done against Michael Bentt?
Well, as you've asked:
Bentt beat Morrison
Morrison beat Foreman
Foreman beat Moorer
Moorer beat Holyfield
Holyfield beat Bowe
Bowe beat Donald
Donald beat Purrity
Purrity beat Wlad
Wlad beat Thompson
Thompson beat Price
Price was the last person to beat Fury
All adds up to a clear points win for Bentt over Fury. UD in Vegas, MD in UK.

I like how you did that!
Does that make Price lineal champ?
If he comes out of retirement, I can't see why not?

I think Fury is on par with Valuev at this moment. Both have advantages and disadvantages to the other .. and aside from both being bald and ugly, both had/have very poor fight records. Its not revisionism - its just an accurate and appropriate comparison.
I not trying to ridicule you. Just identifying your selectivity in favour of Fury.
Fury would have likely called Bentt a sausage a few times - if pressured to fight him, them he`d have made a video calling him out to sign to fight him within 7 minutes .. and then ducked him if Bentt responded within 6 minutes

I really feel you aren't giving Fury enough credit, maybe because you don't like the fella
I think both Fury and Ngannou will have boxing careers possibly lasting only one more fight. I think they’ll both get stopped and retire, and then it’s fairly difficult to access what level either of them really were. I don’t think Fury would make the top 5 all-time British heavyweights, never mind the world top 5, or even top 20.

Don’t wanna jump in Coco because u a poster who knows his onions.
I don’t like Fury. I think he’s a charlatan. Making dough what it’s all about..
I respect his skills tho for a big fella. Sadly he’s neglected that for a long time.
Bit of a charicature now sadly. (Excuse spelling)
When we talk about greatest of an era. He ain’t it.

I haven't been trying to say how good Fury is, what I am responding to is this strange revisionism that Fury can barely fight.
This is a weak era, and in this era Fury's record stands up, unless you are talking about Herbie Hide of course!!

totally agree, we can all be guilty of revising our assessment of someone's entire career based on a performance or action outside the ring. he's a two time world champ, has held all the belts, beat 2 legit champs to take those belts, underdog in first fights against them both. I'm not a fan of him as a person and he may well be on the slide now, but comments like Hide would beat him are nonsensical.

Be careful what you say in future Oh Great One.
AJ goes 24 rounds with an ATG and he’s ok to go?
The GK goes life and death with a novice and needs time to prep?
What a load of nonsense!
Match fit eh?
You managed to create 2 Tyson Fury threads within 11 minutes.
How obsessed eh?
Hmm
And you counting the minutes?
Obsessed is in word.
Idiot is another

The point was Herbie Hide at his peak would have likely caught him and obliterated Fury last month. And at Fury’s peak, obviously the story changes but the dangerous flurries Hide launched against the run of play against Bowe could have spelled real danger against someone who has been floored 7 times! That’s not nonsense! But yes, of course overall Fury has had a better career than Herbie Hide. There remains a large question mark as to how much success against an aged Wlad and Deontay Wilder mean exactly in the ATG stakes. You’d want a lot more in general I’d hope from your champions.
