Re: MMA
Wish we had the full five-rounder.
Champion or not, Kamarudeen is a menace every time and showed he still has his power as a middleweight, shooking Khamzat in the 2nd. Great ground-control display by Borz, securing a win like that against a former NCAA II Division champ is incredible. Respect for the speech post-bout

Volkanovski was dumb to take the fight on one week's notice. His supreme over confidence in himself did him in. At this level you need a full training camp and can't cut corners.

Thoughts on UFC 295?
Main and co-main are pretty awesome…… not sure what’s gonna happen

Re: MMA
The word “sensible” doesn’t apply to these two potentially bonkers match ups, but the sensible picks would surely have to be Prochazka and Aspinall.
But when you’ve got two absolute beasts in the opposite corner respectively, you can’t really rule anything out.

2 awesome fights I guess Pereira is a slight favorite. I would call them 50/50 fights on paper at least, let's see what happens.
One thing I've learned specifically from following fight sports is that consensus and reality are two different things.

Joshua Van vs. Kevin Borjas was an awesome fight from 2 young fighters. Super competitive and exciting. Van pulled out a majority 29-28 win.

Re: MMA
Prochazka has an iffy chin. If Pereira lands clean first he will knock him out imo. Having said that it only applies if the arrogant version of Pereira in the second Adesanya fight doesn't show up again, otherwise Prochazka will win.The Asleep Lamps wrote: ↑11 Nov 2023, 07:55 2 awesome fights I guess Pereira is a slight favorite. Re: MMA
Another great fight in Sadykhov vs. Borshchev. Borshchev dominated the first and was dominating the second until he got caught with a left hook followed with a head kick that put him in serious trouble and gave Sadykhov the second round.
Third round Borshchev who looked finished after the second comes back and looked like he won it. Might be a draw as Sadykhov really dominated the last couple minutes of the second round which could have influenced the judges to score it a 10-8 round. Great back and forth fight.
A majority draw. 29-28, 28-28 28-28. Best fight of the night so far, slightly better than Van versus Borjas.

Benoit Saint Denis brutally KO's Matt Frevola with a head kick. I think Saint Denis will beat the crap out of Islam Makhachev if/when they fight. Dude looks scary good.

Luckily Andrade-Dern fight didn't slow the momentum of this card. Andrade got the ref's stoppage after dropping Dern a few times in the second round. Women's fight more often than not slow a card down but this one was actually exciting and didn't drag.
On to Pavlovich-Aspinall. Someone is getting knocked out in this fight.

Re: MMA
Aspinall KO's Pavlovich 1 minute and 9 seconds into the first round. Aspinall hit Pavlovich with a right hand to the temple that wobbled him then put him down with a follow up right hand to the head that sent Pavlovich down. Aspinall then pounced on the downed Pavlovich and rained down a few hammer fists before the ref waved it off. WOW. It was a short but violent end. Aspinall actually got caught by Pavlovich before his fight ending punches which seemed to warn him not to be careless.
Great speech from Aspinall in the post fight interview. Guy comes across as a really cool dude.
Now the main event. I don't expect it to go to the cards. Might end in the first as well.

Re: MMA
Pereira gets the referee stoppage in the 2nd after dropping Prochazka with a right hand left hook combo, then lands multiple elbows on Prochazka as he was trying to tie up. Pereira then began to mount him and the ref jumped in to stop it. Some might think it was a bit premature but Prochazka did not contest the stoppage.
Prochazka won the first round pressing and backing Pereira up and the second was quite even before the stoppage with Prochazka doing pretty much what he did in the first backing Pereira up.
I said Prochazka's chin was a bit iffy and the first solid shot Pereira landed basically led to the end of the fight.
