Jeff Chandler vs. Carlos Zarate

Post by scorpio83 »

15 Rounds Bantamweight Bout

Either "Joltin" Jeff outboxes Zarate behind his long jabs and combinations to take a decision or late round stoppage or vice versa for Zarate to win by decision or late round stoppage. What do you guys think and who do you got?

It's hard to stop the bum rushing of the great Carlos Zarate. Zarate's physic was almost the same as Jeff Chandler, who was a real technician and strong boxer. The longer the fight, the worse for Joltin' Jeff.

Zarate by TKO in round 12.

Have to agree with Elmer here. I thought a lot of Chandler but Zarate would take Joltin' Jeff's best and wear him down to stop him somewhere between about the 11th to 14th round. Zarate at his best was only beaten by Gomez (Pintor lost their fight by five rounds easy), and Chandler was no Bazooka Gomez. (Gomez would have taken a little longer to KO Chandler because of his style, IMO, but would have done it around the 9th or 10th)

Chandler by SD. It's not an easy fight for either of them, but the more rounds it goes, the more it goes into Jeff's turf.
