Sergio Martinez vs. Etinosa Oliha - November 25, 2023
Sergio Martinez vs. Etinosa Oliha Eyed For November 25 in Rietberg
Former world champion Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez (57-3-2) of Argentina has announced on social media hat he will challenge IBO middleweight titlist Etinosa Oliha (18-0) on November 25 in Rietberg (Germany).
Oliha, from Italy, is promoted by AGON Sports in Germany and won the title on July 1 in Wuppertal with a hard-fought points win over Chilean Julio Alamos. This will be his first defense of the title - however, AGON's matchmaker Hagen Doering says the fight is not confirmed yet.
The once great "Maravilla" Martinez, now 48 years old, is 6-0 since coming back in 2020 but has not yet faced any world class opponents to date.
Martinez last fought back in March, when he wiped out Jhon Teheran in the first round.

Re: Sergio Martinez vs. Etinosa Oliha - November 25, 2023
Martinez has a punchers chance.
He Always will I think.
Becoming a MW Champion at 48 would be an Amazing Accomplishment.
I think he's The ideal potential Candidate for this sort of endeavor.
He just Might possibly be the new B-Hop in that regard.
Hopefully he doesn't wind up being another Old Boxer getting Knocked out of the ring.
Becoming an Old Boxer is one thing, but having you're Boxing career Ending on an "Adding Insult to Injury" conclusion is A Whole Nuther Realm of Harsh Reality setting itself ever so Cruelly to the internal conciesness.![[icon_e_geek.gif] :geek:](./images/smilies/icon_e_geek.gif)

Etinosa is pretty decent imo. I think Sergio may be in a very tough fight. But good luck to him. He was a very good fighter.

Martinez initially retired in 2014 after suffering a knockout loss at the hands of Miguel Cotto.
He resumed his career in 2020 and has currently compiled a six fight win streak.
"Next Thursday I will return to Madrid to kill myself in training. Boxing-wise, this is the best thing that has happened to me in the last decade," Martinez told Télam.
"I was with a foot and a half out of boxing. I didn't feel like doing it anymore. That's it, I told myself. All my world title chances had gone away, and I had no energy to continue. But four days ago, they called me, and it turns out that they offered me an IBO title fight. It is already agreed upon verbally and that's wonderful."
As far as Oliha, the 25-year-old fighter has a record of 18-0 and 8 KOs, Oliha has reigned since July 1, when in the German city of Wuppertal he beat Chilean Julio Alamos by a close unanimous decision. The future rival of "Maravilla" was born in Torino and resides in Asti, Piedmont.
"Inside the ring, nobody is easy, but this boy [has holes]. He's very tall, he has a good reach, but he does not seem impossible to beat. Let's just say that he is a good opponent to close this chapter, this stage of my life... It's a wonderful gift," said Martinez.

However, Martinez now indicates that his deal fell apart due to an internal conflict with his manager Elvis Grant.
"Grant is a brave guy. Five days before my fight at Luna Park [against Tehran] he rudely ordered me not to fight, which I refused, because I wanted to honor my commitment to the organizers that evening," Martinez started in an interview with Telham.
"Since then, we haven't talked and since he has friends in the IBO, the fight for the title went away, that dream is gone. In international boxing, there are many things that are managed by friendships, sympathies and antipathies."
"I didn't like [what happened in this situation] and I'm bitter about it. I even told myself that I would never go to a gym again. For now, I'm out of boxing, although nobody knows. Whatever comes [to make me come back would have to] be a gift from heaven. My head is focused on being cast for a television series and I'm waiting for news regarding that."

You know in the event that Sergio won, Eubank junior would be angling for it lol
