Yes there are a number of other places that hold them from time to time too, but Las Vegas has almost always been the epicenter of boxing when it came to the real big events.

Is Saudi Arabia about to take that role from Las Vegas ?

The UFC also extended their contract with the saudis to host an event every year.

Saudi desperately needs credibility in these rapidly changing times and they have a vast amount of money to burn to buy some.

Saudi is also a big ally of the globalists glove puppet USA and therefore has to keep its image up, and global sporting attention is always a good way to do it.

Meanwhile the ban on Russia is in reality little more than an exercise in propaganda, a small part in the much larger ongoing war.

Fights that should be made are now being delayed more often waiting on unrealistic paydays.
Getting tired of waiting on competitive fights to be made. The sport keeps dying. Eventually no one will care

I can write about this for days, but Vegas became the place for the biggest fights because casinos paid up and above the valuation of the fight because they could recoup expenses from whales (ultra high limit gamblers) they'd bring in using the fight as a marketing/development expense. Casinos don't see the the return anymore and have largely abandoned boxing, leaving it to its own devices. As is the case when revenue is substantially less than expenses with boxing, promoters have turned to sportswashing with sometimes tyrannical regimes. Don King is the most successful individual sportswasher in human history, essentially being a one man IOC from the late 1960s to when the funds stopped flowing in the early 2010s.

In any case, boxing has been chasing big checks from someone who sees the value of the event being more in terms of hearts and minds than $ and 0s for a very, very long time now and Saudi Arabia just represents the terminus of that plan or lack thereof.

The general public only ever cares about 1 fight at a time. They don't follow Most guys careers or anything like that. The big fights get the attention of most sports fans or casual fans.

The Saudis spent and arm and a leg on Fury v Ngannou.
Not money well spent for what they got.
They know how to do a show but are not investing their money wisely in boxing unless their main goal is the heavyweight division which it looks like it is.
They have little interest in the lighter divisions because it make less coin.

Yeah that's the thing that gets me. The way they'll pay these Celebrities I'm assuming Millions of dollars just to come and BE at your event. Just to be seen there.

I can't imagine the amount of money that you'd have to offer me to go to Saudi Arabia. They're surely spending Millions just on that.

As we have seen in football (Manchester City/PSG) the middle eastern countries have an unlimited amount of money. These sport ventures are nothing more than a plaything/hobby to them. They aren't involved to make money - which is a good sign for Boxing. We will likely get all the fights we have dreamed of over the next few years and for the foreseeable future. It's a good thing in my eyes but the downside is, there will be virtually zero atmosphere at any of these huge events.

Is anyone else sad that it's coming to this? Top boxers are fighting in nowhere Saudi Arabia while YouTubers are still fighting in front of big crowds in America? I'm sure these guys are getting paid, but I'm for growing boxing. I don't see how fighting in Saudi Arabia is good for this sport. I mean my enthusiasm is at an all time low, and I used to watch odd Polish, Japanese, and Russian cards a few years ago because I loved the sport so much.
