Vasyl Lomachenko vs Orzubek Nazarov

Post by EdwardRevolver1993 »

I'm curious whether people remember Orzubek Nazarov? He was one of the two (alongside Yury Arbachakov) post-Soviet pioneers in pro boxing, who won a title. Former WBA lightweight titlist. A tall, hard-hitting southpaw with skills.

He was the champ around the time when Miguel Angel Gonzalez, Shane Mosley and Stevie Johnston were fellow beltholders, but failed to secure some of those names.

He has couple of notable wins (over Joey Gamache and Leavender Johnson), though.

And, of course, we're more familiar with Loma's career.

Who'd win this match-up between two fellow southpaws?

I knew I could count on people here 😉 Nazarov is kind of a forgotten fighter nowadays. But I know this forum has knowledgeable audience.

I actually think Nazarov would've been a tough foe for Loma. He was pretty big for the weight. Tall, rangy and hard-hitting. He also had a good pedigree. I think Nazarov would make Loma respect his power and he could make him a little gun-shy.

Also, as we saw against Pedraza and Campbell, Loma's trick with stepping around his opponent's front foot, turning him and setting up his offense doesn't work as well against fellow southpaws.

So, I think it's a difficult fight for Loma.
