Cook fighting for the EBU title.

Post by stujones »

According to seconds out, Jason Cook is fighting Guiseppi Lauri for the vacant EBU Light Welterweight title. This will be the first of two major title fights in the Port Talbort area to take place in a month. It is scheduled for the 22nd of September.

Lauri is decent, but its a winnable fight for Cook and with a WBC ranking on the line, who knows maybe an all British World title fight will be on the cards.

Jason Cook has pulled out of his bid to become a two-weight European champion, claiming the proposed September 22 date did not give him enough time to prepare.

The Maesteg man, a former holder at lightweight, was due to face Italian Giuseppe Lauri for the light-welter throne vacated by Yorkshireman Junior Witter, with home advantage at the Afan Lido.

Lauri is very beatable, lets hope another Brit guy can get a crack at the title against him if Cook isn't up for it.
