You know, that's actually a fascinating fight.

On one hand, if Malignaggi managed to outbox Diaz - you might think Haney could do that, too.

On the other hand, Diaz was just coming off a brutal first fight with JMM. Plus, he moved up in weight to face Paulie (and Diaz didn't look like he belongs at 140lbs).

In period from 2006 to early 2009, Diaz was a wrecking ball. He was short, but compact. Had an insane engine and workrate. Good handspeed, too. He also had a nice combination punching.

At 135, Haney struggled with weight-cut for quite a while. Whereas Diaz, at this weight, was at his best. I don't think Haney could outfight him the way Nate Campbell did. He wouldn't have enough volume or stamina for it.

But he could use his length, footwork and jab to try to frustrate Diaz. Would he have been able to box a disciplined fight without getting caught at least once, though? He could, but I think Diaz would've drawn him into exchanges sooner or later.

It's an interesting fight to analyze. I can't make a definitive pick here. So, I'd love to listen to other opinions.

I like Haney by decision.
