Langford would have his moment by outboxing Hagler through the early rounds behind his accurate jabs and heavy combinations, but the Marvelous One would rally behind his southpaw switch-hitting style along with heavy punches of his own in the later rounds to take a decision.

It may come down to conditioning, but Langford was a freak of a fighter.

As good as Marvin was (and I loved him, as fighter), would fancy Sam to take W in a close, cagey fight.

Langford's the stronger man and the bigger puncher, and while I could see Hagler doing well enough with his jab, I think he'd get outworked and outmuscled in the final 3rd, for something like a 8-5-2 win for Langford.

It's hard to say how well Langford would do in mythical matchups because we don't have any footage to evaluate his style. By all accounts he'd more than powerful enough to hurt Hagler, and durable enough to take Hagler's shots. He'd be skilled enough to get his hands on Hagler, would he be as quick on his feet as Hagler? Would he be as quick with his hands as Hagler? These are things we can't really evaluate without footage of him.

The guys that are from the Pre video era. While I admire their Legacy and History. I don't think we can fairly say how they'd do in matchups like these. You'd have guys that think these Legends can't possibly be beat, and guys that think "Ahh them old Pugs couldn't whip cream"

I guess you can say I'm in the group that imagines they could compete with anybody from any era, and I'll leave it at that.

why do you followers always post highlights?

Watch this the real way he fought

now compare that to this Marvin 10th fight

Notice the angles used/tech/fluidity/timing/defense by all 4 fighters of each era do you honestly see Sam or the guy he fought landing anything on Marvin even at the stage or the person he fought

Sam and his era look like novices see how you shouldn't go off of stupid highlights that don't show every movement

Marvin would destroy both those guys with like 2 shots it's very easy to see this even in his 10th match form

Can you see my post right above yours? If you can you easily can see Marvin would ko him in the 1st Sam and his whole era were novices as the actually way Sam fought as the video I posted shows

Only idiots said Sam would do good based on nothing but a fictional highlighted version

Yeah I respect the oldschool ATGs but Hagler is way too advanced. Would be a mismatch.

Those 30s-40s guys weren't even as advanced as even the average amateur in the 70s-90s. I bet these guys wouldn't ever pick any of those novice fighters. If you were to ask them who they would pick by watching in person, no way would they ever pick Rocky, Pep, Srr, or Louis to beat even the average guy unless their visions were so bad they couldn't make out anything on video.
Behind the internet, it's perfectly sane to pick a novice like fighter.
