I’m completely at a crossroads on this.
Sorry. McClellan destroyed Benn in round 1.
Benn was as game as f*k. But let’s be honest here!
You couldn't be more wrong.
Watch my video that deals with all accusations aimed at Benn including the nonsense long count. Benn was back in the ring after 9.5 seconds of real time, and in boxing the ref's ten count isn't an exact 10 seconds, its usually actually 14 seconds in real time. And in real time Benn was back in at 9.5 seconds according to my stop clock, starting from his back hitting the canvas after he fell through the ropes up until both his feet are back in the ring and on the canvas. The ref had gotten to 8-9 so gave a good count and the ITV doc made a lot out of stuff that wasn't controversial. They say Benn shouldn't have had 20 seconds as he didn't fall off the ring apron, yet the ref only got to 8-9 so where did this 20 seconds nonsense come from? It's irrelevant what he thought was the rule if he hadn't started counting ten and beyond. Benn was in before the ten count. Had the ref gotten to 13 before he got back in, then yes the rule would've been broken and Benn would actually have been counted out, but the ref got to 8 or 9 so it's a moot point.
Here's my video, I use a lot of footage to back up my points and the last video I made on McClellan got around a million views and seems to have changed ppls views on who gave him the brain issues, I touch on that in more detail in my new video.
Sorry. I’m wrong about what?
Apart from not promoting your video?
I wrote I am conflicted about this fight. And McClellan did own R1. Personally I thought the fight should have been stopped.
Then as it went on the signs were there.
Full conspiracy here. Gerald wasn’t supposed to lose. So he wasn’t allowed to quit. There was an even bigger fight $ wise on the horizon. He (Gerald) of course, wasn’t in that conversation.
The Evil side of boxing
The blinking conspiracy on the Jackson fight
You’ve heard the commentator say “that made him blink” after copping one.
Come on now. I’m not watching your channel.
Try harder and get off Boxrec. Or post something of credence.

Typical response of a conspiracy theorist who just got refuted and has no response of any merit. McClellan was blinking multiple times in the fight and had you watched the video you would've seen McClellan also say he had a tremendous headache in the post fight interview as well as a look in his eyes that confirmed that. He also was doing a tic like blink in training for Benn as I showed and you clearly never watched. Regardless of what you think, Benn won the fight, he knocked McClellan out by beating the fight and nearly the life out of him. His record reads W KO 1O, so you may be butthurt but my version of events is the version remembered by those with brains.

You're wrong that it should've been stopped, Benn dominated the second rd and came back to win. He shouldn't have been stopped because an idiot from the BBBC mentioned a 20 count in the ITV doc even though it was completely irrelevant cos Benn got up at 9.
McClellan was supposedly a brilliant boxer who handed Jones Jr. a defeat as an amateur, as a pro he seemed to fall in love with his power and turned into a pure slugger, he also had a couple of defeats to journeymen in his early pro career. He was an exciting if somewhat overrated fighter.

not a fight I wish to view. Although I understand you get 20 seconds to get back in if knocked out the ring, Benn was out 13 seconds. I may be wrong on this rule though.
Incorrect, Benn was in at the count of 8 or 9, 20 second count is irrelevant

He wasn't overrated. He was damaged before the Benn fight and eschewed any type of defense against Benn (and Jackson before this) and paid a terrible price. He was also sparring a peak Tommy Hearns at 16 years of age. McClellan was an ogre but Benn was a bridge too far for him, mainly because of the cumulative damage he'd taken down the years.

I’d rate it very very low. Benn should have been stopped early and was helped out with shady reffing. Then we got to see Mclellan deteriorate physically in front of our eyes while Nigel did his job and smashed him into permanent disability.
I find people who enjoy this fight in particular to be disturbing.
Stop your whining and watch this, it totally wipes out your argument
I actually watched the first few rounds again and you are right, the count was fine. I’d not watched it again for decades. Possibly even when it was live was the first and only time.
I was wrong about a lot of the early part of that fight. I do stand by it being a disturbing fight to celebrate however.
I’ve not watched your video simply because you come across as a bit of a wanker.

That was my take too, 20 seconds if you had to climb back in.
Not sure if it’s true, just heard it at the time.
It was a great fight, just a tragic shame about the life altering outcome.
But ultimately Benn took everything that McLellan could give him and won.
I timed the count at 2 minutes and 17 seconds. Does anyone know if there are any YouTube videos that go into more detail about it?
The only one I've seen is the excellent ITV documentary.

The reason everyone has started to notice the blinking of McClellan in the Jackson fight is because of my video that first pointed it out. It was viewed by around a million ppl before my youtube channel was deleted due to copyright infringements, but heres the original video.
I've since made another video addressing all the accusations against Nigel Benn.
It's unlisted due to copyright but this link should work. I answer the accusations about the rabbit punches, the long count, the ref rescuing Benn, the headbutt and the steroid accusation. I also include extra info on my belief that Julian Jackson started the brain bleed, and I include info previously unknown about Benn's 'shadow on the brain' after the fight.
I find the referee's constant interfering with McClellan to protect Benn, and Benn's incessant rabbit punching and, finally, flying headbutt, too distracting to enjoy the fight. Same with Frank Bruno fights, forever rabbit punching importees while the home ref looks the other way. It offends my sense of fair play.
I think for fans of pure violence it's obviously a classic.
I don't feel any sympathy for McClellan, given his sadism towards dogs, but a fight must be fair.

It did feel like the referee kept needlessly separating him.

Don't let me being a wanker get in the way of a good video lol, Btw I don't give a damn about views as I haven't monetized my channel, just wanna correct lies told by the ITV doc just to make controversy as controversy sells.
