It’s not as simple as is being hinted at here.
The Saudis are losing millions to put events on, the real world cannot do that.
Eventually every sporting event will be PPV, from 99p to watch a lower tier football match to $100 for the Super Bowl or whatever.
But if you're not paying monthly fees then you can pick and choose what you want to see and pay accordingly
Erm.... yes that's correct.

Yes and no mate. I’ll never pay for Sly or a TNT PPV but I don’t mind my DAZN sub at all. fornicate all wrong with streaming if you ask me
I also subscribe to DAZN, signed up when it was £2 and it's only a tenner now, really enjoy it as there is random boxing on too which I'd never know about, there were 3 cards on at same time few weeks ago. Daughter watches the random sports too.
Yeah mate that’s what I was on about with the random cards thing I said. Not gonna turn down two Italian Flyweights at 6PM on a Wednesday are we?

What’s ye daughter watching? My two nieces are getting in to netball and I don’t have the heart to tell them it’s shite
Hahahah we are not indeed, I love the random boxing. My Libby is getting into random ones like NFL as she likes the gear they wear. She also watches a bit of kickboxing as she does it. She likes the BMXey stuff too.

Interesting move going forward, I'm glad they've realised that price gouging has an effect. I would pay 15 quid for the Beterbiev card but wouldn't go near it for 25.
Bet the other American promoters are pissed off as they charge a load more over there for their PPVS.

Yeah, much bigger news for US fans. Big price drop for them.

Feel like £20 is the going rate for a PPV here so it's more of a price freeze, which is still a good thing.

Beterbiev v Bivol shouldn't be a ppv anyway.

It's has next to zero interest among most sports fans and I think the numbers will be very low, as they probably have been with many of these Saudi cards.

This Turkey genius has already tried the gouging route and it clearly hasn't worked so now he's trying something else.

Barrera v Morales wasn't ppv in the UK so zero reason this should be. Hardly as though the Bernard Matthews man needs the coin either.

Right. This is a great fight. But a hardcore and trade great fight. Unless maybe you’re Russian (not even sure how popular either is in Russia, as both have emigrated.) Beterbiev has made his home in Canada, but is he well known there outside of hardcore boxing fans? I have no idea. Any Canadians able to tell us?

It'll be one of the lowest selling PPV's in UK history, despite being one of the best fight that could be made.

It’s rediculous and a huge reason why I don’t sub anymore. Eddie and company have the Midas touch with boxing fans….from “we will never have ppvs” to “only the big AJ nights at stadium will be ppvs, never fighters like Canelo in the us, but to get him to the uk …then we need ppv” now we are talking about “good value ppvs” for no appeal (other than to hard core fans) not in three Uk…this on top of a pretty big price hike for the sub service.

We are absolute mugs!!!

Also did the undercard for Bivol vs Berbetiev (when originally scheduled) remain a ppv?

Boxing fans are mugs and hypocritical. Yes - it will be wrong of me to say the original Dazn sub wasn't excellent value, it was.... then came the first price hike (okay - acceptable), then came the second one ( - grumbles start), then the third etc..... and now with PPVs - massive grumbles ("you said no PPVs eddie") - to "okay, fair enough if its to get Canelo to the UK" - to "well at least we are not as bad as the US"..... to "good value for a PPV".

The sport is ridiculously expense but the majority carry on paying and even say we have got it good.

The Dazn sub should cover everything.

And yes its not just Dazn, same applies for Sky also - but Dazn is still in the main only boxing fans.

Agreed.

For me Wilder-Zhang being headliners on a PPV worldwide not just UK DAZN (on what was essentially a British special interest card) was the last straw. Especially considering both guys were coming off a loss to Parker.

Let's just say I watched the heavyweight fights, somehow.

PPV's were originally for exceptionally special cards or main events then it just transcended into any decent fight with just the bang average stuff on the usual channels.

Plus the broadcasters can't even bring themselves to stop adverts throughout the show and during rounds, even for the main event. Absolute pisstakers.

That's the worst. PPV's should have minimum to no ads at all..

Especially between rounds in the main event

Then you had Eddie Hearn who thought if he put on a card with 3-4 good fights on one card then it passes as PPV.

One that comes to mind is the Brook-Gavin card

Jorge Linares vs. Kevin Mitchell

Evgeny Gradovich vs. Lee Selby

John Ryder vs. Nick Blackwell

Anthony Joshua vs. Kevin Johnson

and few others.

It was probably £16.95 though the PPV.

Even GGG-Book was £16.95..

then they quietly bumped the price to £19.95
