RATING DEC 23RD FIGHTS OUT OF 10.....

Post by funso banjo baby »

What was the actual entertainment factor...?

Sanchez v Fa 5\10
Fa was very sloppy but the huge right hands by Sanchez were good fun.

Hrgovic v de Mori 0\10
doesn't even register as a fight

Makhmudov v Kabayel 7\10
Decent battle between an untested beast and a solid under the radar contender. Kabayel impressed everyone. I actually felt a bit sorry for Mak.

Opatei v Zorro 1\10
Pointless exercise.

Bivol v Arthur 2\10
Nothing from Arthur. Dull fight. Totally outboxed.

Dubois v Miller 7\10
A gruelling struggle. Dubois decided to stay til the end. Big finish. Miller had a few moments but was an embarrassing slob.

Parker v Wilder 3\10
Great upset but Wilder was utter pants.

Joshua v Wallin 2\10
Yet again the Joshua fight is a poor headliner. Wallin was terrible but we should have known this from the awful Gassiev non-fight.

All in all this was a decent enough night. I did get tired during the bivol fight....it was like the moment when they brought Eric Clapton on at Live Aid.....zzzzzzz but I perked up for the two main events.

I would pretty much agree with them, although I would maybe give Opetaia an extra point or two as the knockout was at least impressive to watch.

Dubois v Miller was easily my favourite of the night, due to how well the former performed and kept it up right to the end to get the stoppage.

I think you're in the minority with that assessment.

I dont mind !

dont get me wrong I enjoyed the evening - but on reflection that was due to quantity not quality .
DDD Miller was decent because of the jeopardy and wondering if he wud gas and lose again .
Wilder was terrible / Parker did well but nothing stellar .
AJ KO`D a guy below his level very comfortably and yes its great he is back banging - one swallow doesnt make a summer for me .

Would you prefer to shag half a dozen half decent birds or the one looker?

Pretty poor show over all, yet apparantly the best night of boxing in a long time. Quite sad really. I keep saying it but the sport is on a sorry state.

It was always a mediocre bill without an actual headline fight and will be interesting to see PPV numbers.

Disappointing that so much of boxing media failed to call it out for what it was and if that is the best Saudi money can produce then they'd be better off spending it elsewhere.

They wanted stardust and we got Saudi sand dust instead.

At least Fury v Usyk is a proper fight and one to look forward to.
