ohara davies spoiler
knocked out in 90 seconds in the usa, by ismael barosso
years back barosso, who is 40 but looks about 60, stopped kev mitchell and was up on the cardss before being stopped by ant crolla.
bad look for ohara, he really got his arse walloped

Ohara and left hands, timeless love story... some justice for the wine-aging Barroso, though

Early front runner for upset of the year. 4-1 underdog getting 2 knockdowns and all done in 90 seconds…
Might earn him a Ryan garcia fight…

Re: ohara davies spoiler
wow wasnt expecting that. Guessing Ohara thought it was going to be like the Ritson fight. All about levels. Hard to see Davies coming back from that.
Re: ohara davies spoiler
davies looked like he was stoned throughout - stiff as a board, robotic and then starched. hopefully thats the end of him
Re: ohara davies spoiler
also, the dazn usa commentators are embarrassing. the ortiz stoppage looked fair, lawson sagged on the ropes for a second prompting the intervention yet none of the dazn crew spotted or mentioned it. very poor. get barry jones in, he'd have seen that

nah the ortiz stoppage was straight up awful, you're the first ive seen defend it mate. i didnt have the sound on either. it's funny to watch the crowd reaction, ppl genuinely frozen in wtf mode, no idea what's just happened. oscar the only one who jumps up
as graham houston said, very strange stoppage.
same ref who delivered the awful premature stoppage in romero-barroso last year, panics too much these days

Re: ohara davies spoiler
watch it closely again - lawson goes limp on the ropes for a millisecond, his right shoulder dips through and his legs buckle. that's when weeks steps in. as soon as he does, lawson 'comes to' and looks fine again but weeks had to act when lawson sagged, he looked gone and weeks wasnt to know what was going to happen next.

Re: ohara davies spoiler
i watched it mate, lawson leans back on the ropes for a sec. that's normal when someone is in that position. both through leaning back oneself and the force of the shots pushing your body back. his hands stay up, he doesn't go down or even close to it.
totally unacceptable stoppage when it's round 1 and that's the first offensive burst of the fight. those shots werent even landing very cleanly either. i really doubt barry would defend it, havent seen many do it so far, though i have seen people say it's among the worst stoppages theyve seen
i have no doubt ortiz wouldve won legit in a few rounds tops, but then just wave it off as soon as the bell rings for round 1

Re: ohara davies spoiler
Davies looked off during the intro, he's been on fairly big shows before so it was all a bit weird. Not sure how he comes back.

indeed. ohara looked to be in a pretty good position, only a fight or two between him and ryan garcia. seemingly winnable title fight vs rolly if he got through this. getting himself usa hype
opportunity badly blown

Re: ohara davies spoiler
for me, it looked as though weeks was given a reason to step in there...but i seem to be in the minority. anyway, struggling to remember two first round finishes in the main and chief support on a major show. good to have a short night for a change.

Can’t believe the ref almost let this continue. He was completely gone after the first left hand landed.

Really poor from Ohara. I've never been high on him with his stance and balance. It was satisfying to see in the sense that my technical read proved right. He's not a world level fighter by any stretch. When he throws the right to the body and leaves his chin there to be countered it's just really poor. Duck under after throwing it or use the momentum to get in close. The right hand should be coming back to the chin and expecting the counter but I suppose this is what they say about levels in boxing.

Glad to see O`hara get smoked. Those saying the Lawson stoppage was fair must be blind. That was a terrible stoppage from Weeks.

I don't think ohara deserves the stick he gets. Watching him on YouTube he's definite a sound bloke. I'll be harsh on his boxing ability but as a person the chap is alright. I wouldn't mind having him as a next door neighbour put it that wayhandsofstone wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 07:27 You can't beat seeing pricks lol Ohara Davies humiliated in a round, joyous

He's a prick, he might fool you but some of us still remember him using Hillsborough to wind up Derry Mathews, only a simpleton would believe he never knew what he was doing, plenty other dickish behavior over the years as well, quit like a bitch against Taylor after giving it large then done in a round by geriatric Barroso , big mouth and little heart, the worst kindTheLeprechaun wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 08:49I don't think ohara deserves the stick he gets. I remember him making a comment to Tommy Coyle about doing an interview with The Sun after he beat him. I think he knew it would cause issue with Liverpool but he’s claimed naïvety and not knowing why The Sun is so disliked in the North West. It wouldn’t surprise me if that was true too to be honest.
That doesn’t make him likeable though as I remember just how much of a dick he was in one of the Liverpool press conferences.

Sorry I meant Coyle, not a chance he never knew what he was doing, ironically his heart gave out after the backlash and he played dumb and has continued to use it as a weapon to bash Eddie with, threw under the bus blah blah, don't be fooled he's not a nice guymaverick23 wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 09:50What did he say to Matthews about Hillsborough?handsofstone wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 09:31He's a prick, he might fool you but some of us still remember him using Hillsborough to wind up Derry Mathews, only a simpleton would believe he never knew what he was doing, plenty other dickish behavior over the years as well, quit like a bitch against Taylor after giving it large then done in a round by geriatric Barroso , big mouth and little heart, the worst kindTheLeprechaun wrote: ↑07 Jan 2024, 08:49

Re: ohara davies spoiler
Yeah just watched it Jesus wept I’ve neveevven a guy look beaten during the ring announcements but I’m pretty sure OHara comes close to managing it. Very odd body language.
Re: ohara davies spoiler
He had a pretty bad childhood so I'm inclined to give him a bit of a pass but he doesn't make it easy to back him.
Re: ohara davies spoiler
I heard somewhere that he's autistic, I don't know how true that is. He looked very off, almost Audleyesque like he was moving through treacle and like he didn't want to be there. Very odd. Annoying as I know he can do it. OD is a decent fighter and think he could win some domestic belts too.
Very odd fight

Re: ohara davies spoiler
Yeah, it was a really bad call from Weeks.
I've watched it a few times after reading your post, I can't see anything other than Vergil applying decent pressure with Lawson covering up on the ropes.
There was a nice jab and a body shot that landed well from Ortiz, Lawson was probably feeling that.
Nothing really substantial landed, and Lawson was covering up quite well.
Terrible, terrible stoppage for a main event fight - particularly in the first round.
Re: ohara davies spoiler
Never really got how Davies was regularly talked about in world class, I never saw him above domestic class
