Lowest earning P4P

Post by Delta Jay »

Not really anything great on so it’s another silly question thread from me.

Your boxing ability and your earnings as a fighter are becoming more and more two separate things. Mayweather hqs to be the best mix of both ever for me, him or Ali anyway.

Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney is a mad one where a former undisputed who’s clearly levels above the other guy might make less dough.

I remember seeing a graphic comparing Instagram followers along with records.

Who was the #1 boxer in the world who couldn’t sell a ticket? Not underrated by the public, as in he was close to the top of P4P and never had a big payday?

I’m bored lads, anything to watch would be cool, too.

Ed: General opinions about marketability vs boxing ability welcome too

The first one that comes to mind is Rigondeaux getting dropped by HBO when he was probably top 5 P4P.

The other obvious ones would be champs in the lightest weights like Calderon or Caballero who were in the top ten P4P list but (I assume) never made huge money.

Vernon Forrest who earned a prominent spot on the P4P list for a time after 2 wins over Mosley who was #1 in many people's eyes coming into their 1st bout never really had a major marquee PPV fight.

And like J-C said Rigondeaux and most of your Bantamweight and under guys would fit that list.
