Dacres vs Itauma for the English Heavyweight Title - Purse bids

Post by joshj909 »

Two of the next generation of British heavyweights. Both pretty untested but you think one of them might be able to go on to the higher level. Itauma had the better amateur record (but looks padded in comparison as I imagine they're mostly youth level) while Dacres is slightly ahead as a pro so far. Neither appear to have the significant KO power that heavyweights usually possess. The one significant thing between them is age, Itauma is 11 years younger at 19...

Obviously it's at a very low level, but Itauma been blastin' 'em all out early...

World youth standard is damn high, blasting them out at that level, which is what this fella has done, is quite unheard of.

They aren't gonna cash out Dacres at English title level

Yeah it's hard to tell at this stage but he went the distance with two guys that a top heavy hitter should have put away. Not saying he doesn't have power but most heavyweights KO most of their first 10 opponents regardless of the level of opposition. Time will tell

I'm in two minds on that point. Dacres only just squeaked past Webster on an MD, so there may be a danger in waiting too long.

I can’t see this fight being made despite them both being with the same promoter now.

I’ll take Dacres tho despite the poor last performance. He’s seasoned at 10 round level and has fought the better opponents by quite a way.

Itauma has had nights where he could have 20 rounds against a guy and he wouldn’t stop them as well let’s not make out like he’s ironed unconscious every single guy.

Would be a huge step up, dacres looked bad last fight but befor that has looked pretty decent.

I kinda can’t see it happening… except that Itamu has talked a lot about wanting to be youngest world champ…. If he wants to be anywhere near that trajectory dacres isn’t a bad fight. Dacres, a quick defence or 2 then British… that’s the minimum pace he needs to back his talking.

If he turns it down I hope it goes to Johnny fisher next… dacres might be too much for him, but I’d like to see him have a stab at the English.

Surely Fisher was offered it before they would have gone down the rankings to Itauma. Ok Fisher is ranked below Itauma by boxrec but I'd expect the British board would have the Southern area champ ahead of a guy who hasn't even fought an 8 rounder in Itauma.

The English title is a pig of a title to get defences of when you are a talented champion.

Itauma definitely moving quickly. Look forward to this, I like Dacres but think he'll be blasted out. Hope I am wrong though.

Hard to say, you would think the English champ dacres would get ordered for the British befor frazer Clarke (guess he was an olimpian)…

I think bbboc might put itamu above fisher because he is a legit shot at the top levle over the next few years… (a long shot but a shot) fisher has done more than itamu title wise, but seemingly has further to go…

But logic aside (cause it’s useless when understanding commissions) anything could of happened…

Well not ALL but don’t think “lack of HW power” is the stick to beat Itauma with. Do you ?

hard to rate his power really, who is the best guy he stopped? it's mostly a mix of guys already stopped by middling opposition and guys who were counted out with smiles on their faces after hardly being hit. been the distance a few times, though tbf vs journeymen known to be fairly durable

need more to go on

Pretty much unheard of in the amateurs, pretty much did the same on the way to gold in the world's.
At the moment he is fighting the usual suspects and has already got 5 first round wins

he's 7-0 (5), just like young hughie fury was. some of the stoppages were laughable too, guys literally laughing after flopping on the canvas. boxing has been filled with guys who were junior beasts but not nearly as powerful vs adults

he needs to be tested much more for us to get a good idea of his power.

Agreed. Its a shame Sokoloski is banned, otherwise I would have liked to see Itauma in with him over 8.

I think Warren will look to push the Dacres fight back until Moses has had 1 or 2 more fights

I can't see this happening as Frank has invested in both. I think you'd be a British title at stake at least. Good fight though
