There's only 1 person re-writing history in this thread and it's you. Because you're lying about Ruiz being WBC mandatory, he wasn't ranked. WBA number 1 contender wasn't John Ruiz either when Lewis beat Holyfield, it was Akinwande who Lewis had already beat. Akinwande was meant to face Holyfield before Holyfield faced Lewis but because sick with Hepatitis. Akinwande wasn't healthy enough to be sanctioned for a world title fight. Because Don King tried to make Lewis-Akinwande 2 first

I reckon Akinwande might have beat beat Holyfield with his range and outboxing. John Ruiz wasn't number 1 in the WBA until 13 days prior to Lewis being stripped. No one knew who he was until he faced Holyfield. The only ranked fighter he faced knocked him out in 30 seconds. And Lewis later fought him instead

Also tell me which win made John Ruiz a viable challenger for Lewis before he got the WBA title show. I'll be waiting. He hadn't beat anyone in the top 20. It was a corrupt WBA and Don King scheme and HBO were never going to pay for such a fight.

Here is the Ring Magazine Top 10 for April 2000

Lennox Lewis
Evander Holyfield
Michael Grant
Ike Ibeabuchi
David Tua
Mike Tyson
Vitali Klitschko
Andrew Golota
Derrick Jefferson
Oleg Maskaev

So you think instead of fighting number 3 on that list he should fight someone not in the top 10?

Lewis followed the money and faced the names HBO would pay him the most to face. These names were Michael Grant who was built up to be the heir apparent and Mike Tyson. Wlad/Vitali, David Tua and Ibeaubuchi were the other exciting fights. Literally, no one wanted to see Lewis against Ruiz or Byrd. Lewis did consider facing Byrd when he was having trouble making the Tyson fight but the WBC told him that Tyson had to be next.

Also if I wanted to knock Lewis, I'd make a much better argument than the ridiculous angle you've choosing to go down.
Umm, the Ring's rankings are not the WBC's rankings. Those are two different things.

Everything I wrote is taken from page 4 of Boxing Monthly's June 2000 issue, editor Glyn Leach's article on Lennox Lewis.

Sorry that facts contradict your emotional outbursts.
You're either proven to have lied or managed to find an incorrect source. Ruiz was not WBA number 1 when Lewis fought Holyfield, because Akinwande was. And he was not WBC number 1 in 2000, because Tyson was. Nice try
I said Ruiz was WBC mandatory, and I said Don King in agreeing Holyfield-Lewis 2 secured Ruiz first crack at winner -- that is directly from Glyn Leach, editor of Boxing Monthly, writing at the time of the events.

Graham Houston, writing his profile on John Ruiz in the same issue (Boxing Monthly June 2000) page 12, calls Ruiz in the headline "THE LOW PROFILE HEAVYWEIGHT RANKED NO. 1 BY TWO SANCTIONING BODIES" - the WBC and the WBA.

Your memory is faulty, your face is red. You lose.

Both are incorrect and he's wrong and I'll provide superior source to prove it.

Lewis agreed to fight a WBA number 1 rated, who was Akinwande, not Ruiz. Akinwande lost his position because of his hepatitis:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/lennox-lew ... -don-king/

King applied to have Lewis stripped before Ruiz was number 1 in the WBA. John Ruiz was inserted as WBA number 1, only 13 days before Lewis was stripped of the title. Lennox Lewis's lawyer asked the WBA to have a box off where Lennox would face the winner after Michael Grant. So Lennox is agreeing to fight the WBA mandatory after the Grant fight, but Ruiz and King want him stripped instead:

https://archive.nytimes.com/www.nytimes ... lewis.html

Ruiz wasn't ranked number 1 in the WBC. Tua was WBC mandatory at the time and the WBC listed Tyson as the next mandatory:

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2002/feb/06/boxing

King sued Lewis to strip him of the WBA after Lewis signed to fight Grant. Legally Lewis couldn't not drop the WBA at this stage because he was legally under contract to face Grant:

https://casetext.com/case/lewis-v-don-k ... ctions-inc

Final judgment shall enter as follows:

1. The complaint will be dismissed in its entirety. The dismissal of the first and fourth claims for relief is for lack of subject matter jurisdiction, as neither raises a case or controversy within the meaning of Article III of the Constitution. The dismissal of the second and third is on the merits.

2. DKP's counterclaim against plaintiffs Panix and Main Events will be dismissed on the merits.

3. Lewis will be enjoined from engaging in any boxing match or bout with Michael Grant or any other person unless Lewis first shall have (a) defended his WBA heavyweight title against the WBA's leading available contender or (b) vacated the WBA title and so advised the WBA and DKP in writing.

He’s literally one of the least likely candidates to cause an upset. It would have been a totally meaningless fight. At least Botha had a bit of personality.

Seriously if I'm trying to be a Lennox hater I'm not bringing up average guys like Ruiz or Byrd. I'm bringing up killers like Wlad, Vitali (rematch) and Ibeabuchi. The hater doesn't even know what he's doing.

There’s a “boxing fan” posting on here most days claiming the fight won’t happen. The fact that Fury is in the first ever World heavyweight 4 belt unification fight is definitely hurting some on here.

Saying it isn't going to happen is a totally different thing to 'being upset' that it's happening.

So once again.... give me some examples of posters being upset that this is happening. You won't be able to, because no one did and you're a big fat liar. :TU:

Both cruisers, no belt on the line, quick turn around, big name.

I actualy wouldn’t hate it, kov can whack. And has arguably never lost the first half of a fight…

Would be fun while it lasted if kovs in shape. (I would expect Jai to break him down and beat him up).

Much he rather Jai unifying, but I would rather the kov fight than jais pat 2 opponents.

The no.1 fight on your wish list should have happened last year. The fact that you criticize Fury so much shows that you don’t think rationally.
