When I watched an interview years ago by Jamie Moore he seemed very unwell, but read one in BN more recently, he has dementia iirc the pugilistic one they speak of (I think), and has a partner who cares for him a lot. I'd like to hear one with him, if he is well enough.

I saw him interviewed for one of his boys fights, well after the Moore interview and he was half ok, in the Moore interview he was medicated to high heaven

That Alex Arthur fight was pure insanity and I thought he was going to get to Khan in their fight too. He was a wild man with a big heart in the ring. I remember the movie as it was mentioned a lot. Gomez did well when he had Kerry Kayes sorting his diet. I know Kayes a bit and Kayes had him do the weight properly for the Arthur fight, did it like a bodybuilder in terms of weightloss so he was not starving himself, and was not dehydrated to make weight. That was the best we ever saw him as Gomez unfolded after that.

Yes Francis one was good. Always enjoy the domestic ones from the 90s/2000s era.

Me too that's when I was really into boxing and the British and EBU titles seemed to be a lot more prestigious.

That video is his son Jnr being interviewed, his dad Michael Gomez Snr is 46 now and wasn't in great shape the last video I saw of him. I think he was diagnosed with dementia type symptoms a few years ago and was being cared for by his wife.

I just listened to the most recent one with Eric Donovan which was good. It sounds like Tris might be putting an end to these podcasts for a while, he ended last one saying possibly the end of them, one more to go with Calzaghe but others will be on Patreon and it won’t be a weekly thing. Also looking for more sponsors.

Ringside Rewind is ok, quite light hearted and some interesting insight from Rawling and Darke albeit they do tend to repeat the same stories over the episodes.

- Lee Swaby (my early favourite pro, good Cruiser before stepping up to HW and fighting some big names)
- Bobby Vanzie (did a lot of comms when he retired then disappeared)
- Carl Wild (para then pro)
- Buster Keeton (good cruiser, lots of sparring tales from Ingle gym)
- David Avenasyan (such an interesting life to end up training in my neck of the woods)
- Matt Legg (good am, interestinng life outside of it, fought AJ and Toney as a pro)

I can remember in the previous JC one Joe started choking up about his dad, I was driving to work listening to it at the time and was almost in tears myself. Very emotional moment from Joe and there have been a lot of really good moments over the Boxing Life Stories series. If it doesn't get Tris in the IBHOF then something seriously wrong.

No he seems to juggle various things and said the podcast is quite time consuming as he does it all himself. A shame though, hardly seems worth signing up to and paying for Patreon if he is doing less of them
