At least when Andrade fought Williams in the US, we got it in the UK around 11pm.

Very clearly testing the waters for promoting in Vegas and the card is very much set up with British interest. Interestingly Matchroom have promoted a fair few shows in the US in the last few years but I don't think any of them have been in Vegas.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑28 Jan 2024, 19:19it is, means I'll be awake though!Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑28 Jan 2024, 19:02That’s really early..SeanBrennan wrote: ↑28 Jan 2024, 17:01 just watching the Mungia card, Eddie Hearn just said Benn's fight will work out at 830pm UK time, 230 there.

The Cosmopolitan is one of the high end sites in Vegas (altho I think I've seen it's integrating into the MGM group of casinos) and will no doubt be paying a site fee to Matchroom. Matchroom have been doing these kind of site fee shows to gurantee themselves the income that can be difficult to predict with ticket sales. Monaco, Orlando and some other spots immediately spring to mind. It's a good way of getting the hard to promote fights set.

I sense another underwhelming performance from Benn.

ya i'll pass on that one
Re: Conor Benn vs. Peter Dobson | DAZN - 3 February 2024
They have matched him recently, quite expertly to have fairly competitive fights, whilst still ensuring he is protected.
It's gutting that so much energy is being put into a mediocre guy sailing on his father's name, when there are much more talented young fighters that could be so much more- if given the same training, team, diet and promotion as Benn.

way over my Lincolnshire head (still amazed with cutlery and opposable thumbs tbh) but this sounds a good business model.jameswilson wrote: ↑28 Jan 2024, 19:45Very clearly testing the waters for promoting in Vegas and the card is very much set up with British interest. Austin 'Ammo' Williams To Face Armel Mbumba-Yassa, Who Replaces Injured Connor Coyle On Benn-Dobson Vegas Bill
Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams can still look forward to a fight this weekend, even if against a lower profile opponent.
Boxing Scene has confirmed that the American contender will now face Armel Mbumba-Yassa in a scheduled ten-round bout between unbeaten middleweights. Their fight will serve in supporting capacity to the Conor Benn-Peter Dobson DAZN headliner this Saturday from Chelsea Ballroom at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Williams was previously due to face Northern Ireland’s Connor Coyle (20-0, 9 KOs), who was forced to withdraw after he suffered a torn tendon in his right elbow. The originally scheduled matchup was appealing given that both Williams and Coyle are both ranked by the WBA in the top five at middleweight.
Mbumba-Yassa (10-0, 7 KOs) will fight outside of Europe for the first time in his five-year pro career.
The 28-year-old Congo-born, Germany-based middleweight won a pair of six-round decisions in 2023, both which took place in his current hometown of Leverkusen, Germany. He takes a considerable leap in competition here, as he enters just his second scheduled ten-round bout. It will mark his first to not take place in Germany or Macedonia.
Williams (15-0, 10 KOs) also fought just twice in 2023, though versus solid opposition. Oddly, the 27-year-old Houston-based southpaw entered last year expecting to face England’s Felix Cash, who bailed on the fight and has yet to revisit such plans after a previously contentious rivalry.
An effort to remain active saw Williams—who went 4-0 in a Prospect of the Year-worthy 2022 campaign—instead face River Wilson-Bent, whom he dropped and stopped inside of eight rounds last April 1 in London. Williams returned stateside for his most recent victory, a ten-round decision over Toronto’s Steve Rolls. Their middleweight bout took place last September 23 in Orlando, Florida.
With a win on Saturday, Williams is expected to be steered in the direction of an eventual bid for a major title. He is ranked in the top six by the WBC, WBA and IBF at middleweight.

Cash sounds like he had a horrible 2022/23 in his private life, hope they fight at some point.
Mbumba's 'fighting for the first time outside of his country' always sounds ominous.

I'm gonna remain hopeful that sense will prevail and they can stagger the main events. The Cosmopolitan punters will be in there on comps so won't be in the least bit arsed about it being put back or pulled forward 30 minutes.
