Does Munguia beat Canelo?

Post by Sweet Dick Willie »

I know they'll never fight but Munguia looks very impressive at super middle. Canelo has not been looking very good in his last four

Munguia looks solid at SMW, but not good enough to beat Canelo. He definitely needs more time.
And it seems like he'll get his time:

If that's really the schedule, I'll be pissed.
Making your last three opponents all go up in weight (up to three weight classes!) is some bs.

Mall and craw are good fights. But feels a shame if benividez and mung don’t fight canelo soon.

To the OP's question: no. Not for another 3-4 years

Canelo vs Bud may sound intriguing, but I don't think there is one boxer on the planet who could go up three weight classes to fight the top dog in that division.
Imagine one of the Shigeokas fighting Nakatani, Inoue fighting Tank or Tszyu fighting Beterbiev.

Also, Mall fighting a former WW after a 29 month layoff before going up in weight to fight Canelo doesn't sound optimal either.

It gotta be Benavidez.

By the way, Benavidez vs Munguia would be legendary

Crawford isn't going to win, it's daft.

Based on what? Did they say they'd never fight? Or do you think that one of them isn't in the business of prizefighting?

Alvarez would beat Munguia. Alvarez would be willing to fight Munguia because it's one of the best-paying fights that he can win, outside of Benavidez and maybe Eubank (who probably isn't moving-up to 168) or Jermall (who probably isn't fighting at all again). Munguia would fight Alvarez because, even though he'd take a loss, it'd pay like 5 times what he makes from fighting anyone else. And, on top of that, a loss to Alvarez doesn't even significantly hurt your career, so it's not like Munguia would be "exposed" if he lost to Alvarez. Trying to get a payday against Alvarez is the whole reason why super middleweights climb the rankings ladder and stay undefeated at all. It's THE end goal, and there is no one at SMW who simply doesn't want a shot at Alvarez if they can get it.

Nope, Jaime is still way too exposed for Nelo.

NO. I'd like to see Canelo fighting Benavidez and then Mung this year , bc Father Time has no mercy. Mall and Craw would be just some cherrypicking fights for Canelo.

why not Mall vs Bud @ 160 ? the winner should get Canelo.

No.
At 168 Munguia is just a fat 154lber against Canelo, Morell or Benevides. Against the rest he is a major threat

It’s one of the best current match ups I can think of. Maybe the Saudis will stump up the cash if Canelo decides on Charlo and Crawford? They seem to want to make the fan friendly fights.

Who you got in that? I have to back Benavidez for a late stoppage, but it would be class while it lasted.
