1. What does this mean?
I shall be returning as Joint Commissioner with the admin duties. I'm currently fielding offers for partnership in The Office and I have just the perfect candidate in mind;
BoxBuzz wrote: ↑27 Jul 2021, 08:58I have a pristine copy of the software and and THE MIGHTY UNIVAC world's #1 renowned simpug computer system, (the very one that pitted Marciano against Ali in the very first simulated event). It comes with it's own abacus and a well trained mouse on a rotary wheel for state of the art speed and accuracy. (Cheese donations accepted for our celebrity volunteer Mr Mighty Mouse)
(Yes I'm talking about the rodent, but I have heard that this is a "package deal" kinda thing, so I suppose we'll take the wily old squawker too.)
2. What weight classes? *EDITED*
One weight class this time around, just to iron out the wrinkles, so we'll put it to the vote.
3. What happens now?
I shall be contacting all of the posters from the "Open Minded to new season" and "Was this ever sorted" threads over the next hour with a standard greeting, notifying them of the new season and directing them here to comment their interest and thus register (as can be seen below)
4. When will this start?
I am looking at a Monday 12th February start date, that gives everyone a fortnight to get their ducks in a row. In the meantime, Managers will notice the Week 1 Thread and the LHW/WW Fighter Records Thread getting put up over the next couple of days, just like old times, eh?
5. But Crease, where have you been?
BoxBuzz wrote: ↑27 Jul 2021, 08:58Also...Now that Crease has become a Pizza delivery mogul
Everyone's food got cold because my bicycle was stolen, so I had to retire from the wholesome job of being a Deliveroo cyclist. I remember hearing something of a similar theft happened a good while back to a young man called Cassius - wonder what ever happened to him?

It's been sometime since I started up the ol' SimEngine.....I'll check to see if it is still operational...UNLESS.. Crease has it, and wishes to oversee that aspect. I'm game, but unsure of status of software. Also there IS an artificial intelligence add on that I have read about. I'll look into all of this. Crease, I look forward to details, and am open minded to assisting, IF the basic mainframe re: computer info is still in working condition.
At first blush it appears operational, but it has proved to be intermittently problematic in a past dry run.
IF there is interest, I suggest one weight class and one fighter per manager....maybe two fighters max? Just to see if we can successfully get through let's say an 8 week fast paced "season". Is 8 enough? Not sure the minimum amount of weeks or events it would take to get through a good trial period, while acheving records that could produce an ultimate outcome. I will look into this and make some further suggestions.
IT could blow up....it has blown up in the past. However, I have found an operational A.I. option that could guarantee that at least the trial run would be fully successful. Though a bit different in aesthetics than in the past. And it would not compile stats, it would simply produce results, for us to put on the board and compile records internally. However we could definitely get through a short run, have an outcome and declare a winner. That could be guaranteed.
If there is interest i will do further research and bring a good description of what the worst case scenario of a short successful season would look like, and how it could rather easily be managed to a conclusion. Let's see what interest is shown by Feb 1, and take it from there.
The BrainTrust will return to the fray. Though I suggest we stick with just 1 weight class with the technology always proving to be a little finnicky in some way.
I mean, we might as well roll out the weeks, IMO. If it cuts out, it cuts out. Nothing anybody can do in regards to that happening. Maybe have a quick 4 week "preseason" just to make sure things are in order, then let it rip.

Light Heavy or Welter - Managers will decide
Let's do Light Heavyweight since that's the division I first played, and I joined late so I got a sh*tty pick of the litter. I've always wanted a Light Heavyweight redemption for The BrainTrust.
Let's make this decision by the weekend, I'll then post the fighters that will be available in the chosen weight category. It is limited by the software, and will be more historical than current. And the current fighters will likely be rated on their early records. Be mindful of this when making your choices.
This first run needs to be simple, small, and short........to see if the old software will really deliver. And like I say....even IF it fails, I have an A.I. alternative that will allow us of finish this test season no matter what happens.
I'm fine with participating or not, you guys can decide, If I do participate, I will be my usual arrogant self, and that has made folks wonder about my integrity in the past. I get a kick out of las vegas odds, and the wonder of chance. So it never occurs to me to put my finger on the scale, because I'm just as happy to be the clown, as I am to be the King...so my luck...is just that...pure luck. I believe I've had both good and bad runs in the past....both are equally entertaining to me.
So if anyone has any reservations about me having fighters, I"m happy to simply run the software.
EXHIBITION EXAMPLE FIGHT>>>>>>>for your commments. IF AI is required to finish the season it will change the look, however the outcomes will be based on what is in the TB data base so would have some overall game integrity.
for your approval....the software appears sound.....however, ONLY retired fighters will be allowed. As current fighters data is simply insufficient to alllow them to compete fairly.
